History of the War

Thirty Years’ Occupation
In the late 1980s, Armenia began ethnic provocations and terror acts, openly claiming historical territories of Azerbaijan. Taking advantage of the waning authority of the USSR central government, they advanced into action to annex the Nagorno-Karabakh Autonomous Oblast (NKAO) with Armenia.
