What they wrote to the President
President of Azerbaijan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev continues receiving letters.
We present some of them:
From Alasgar Aghayev, Dubai, the United Arab Emirates
‘Our Dear Mr. President,
I would like to express my gratitude. Although these are simple words, they come from the bottom of my heart.
Regardless of where we live, we all stand by You like a tall mountain. The entire nation stands behind every word You say, every statement You make.
Every speech You make causes a resonance in the world, challenges our enemies and even their patrons from powerful states, and manifests Azerbaijan’s resolute position.
May You live a hundred years, Mr. President. You will live on as long as Azerbaijan exists. Azerbaijan will always thrive, so You will always live on.’
From Jem Kuchukturk, Kayseri, Turkiye
‘Dear Mr. President
We convey our regards to You and would like to inform You that a part of the hearts and souls of everyone in Türkiye is now with our brothers in Azerbaijan.
I offer my condolences to You and all people of Azerbaijan for Your martyrs and wish a speedy recovery to our wounded soldiers.
May God protect and help You all.
We were all shaken to hear of the treacherous attack You have experienced. But I was sure that the Azerbaijani people will overcome this aggression.
Your enemy is our enemy. They, who betrayed You, have betrayed us.
I congratulate You on Your victory and declare that we, the entire Turkish nation, stand by You.’
From Abulfaz Gasimov and others, Kyiv, Ukraine
‘Dear President, Mr. Supreme Commander-in-Chief,
On behalf of our numerous compatriots in Ukraine, we would like to express our sincerest gratitude to You and the valiant Azerbaijani Army.
We support You on this holy path You have set on to liberate the Azerbaijani territories, invaded by the Armenians for 30 years – Nagorno Karabakh and the 7 adjacent regions and to return 1 million refugees to their homes.
We, Azerbaijanis in Ukraine, have been proud and overwhelmed with joy with the tides of victory. Our mighty army has been exercising its power over the enemy under Your command and retaliating worthily.
Mr. President, the soldiers of our National Army have been expelling the enemy from our occupied lands under Your leadership. The Azerbaijani intellectuals in Ukraine, who have been sparing no efforts to support our state’s successful information war against Armenian aggressors and systematic publication in Ukraine of journalistic and scientific articles based on irrefutable evidence exposing Armenian fraud, declare that we always stand by the Azerbaijani state and our National Army in the righteous war for the territorial integrity of our holy Motherland.
You and the heroic Azerbaijani Army under Your command have demonstrated to our enemies and the entire world that we are ready to fight to the very end for Karabakh, our eternal land. Historical justice is on our side.
We express our deepest respect and support for You. We would like to express that we are ever available at Your command. We always stand by our Motherland Azerbaijan and support Your policy.
We are confident that every inch of our land will be reclaimed under Your leadership. We are looking forward to the joyous Victory Day.
Our path is the path of justice!
Karabakh is Azerbaijan!’
From Iltifat Muradov, Baku, Azerbaijan
‘Dear Mr. President, honourable Supreme Commander-in-Chief,
I declare that I am proud of You as a worthy follower of our National Leader.
I am a Karabakh veteran. I have fought shoulder-to-shoulder with Koroghlu Rahimov, the National Hero of Azerbaijan. Although I am 57, Your call suffices for me to join the battles for the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.
You are the hero of our people, of all Azerbaijanis. God bless You.
We proudly say ‘Karabakh is Azerbaijan!’
From Veli Shahverdiyev, Jabrayil, Azerbaijan
‘Dear Mr. President,
These lands are our Motherland. I was born in Jabrayil. I grew up there. Our ancestors were born there. There are up to 30 children capable to join the battles in my family. All of them and I are ready to leave for the front.
My family lives in an apartment, provided by the state. I have always believed that we would shortly return to our native lands. You are now making our dreams come true. I wish You a long life and many happy days.
I say, praised be the Mother, who gave birth to You! Long live Mr. President! You will forever be etched into the hearts of our people.
Karabakh is Azerbaijan!’
From Ajdar Aliyev, Saatli, Azerbaijan
‘Dear President, Mr. Supreme Commander-in-Chief,
I am writing this letter to You with great joy. You are not only our President but an elder of all Azerbaijanis worldwide. You are advancing bravely to expel the Armenians from our lands. I welcome Your efforts. I congratulate You on our victory.
You are our wise President. Your journey as the head of state is etched into world history in golden letters. You are successfully carrying out the policy of our National Leader Heydar Aliyev as his son. We wish You success.’
From Mahammad Aghayev, Salyan, Azerbaijan
‘Mr. Ilham Aliyev, most honourable Supreme Commander-in-Chief!
I am overjoyed to see our people united around their Supreme Commander-in-Chief as a fist during these hard, yet promising days for our future. This unity inspires great hope in me.
I am overwhelmed with joy like all people of Azerbaijan.
Despite my age, I would very much like to join the ranks of the army as an officer in reserve.
I am extremely proud and delighted to see our youth mobilized to fight for the freedom of our lands. Our valiant soldiers and officers under Your command inflict crushing blows to the enemy, inching us closer to victory every day.
Long live independent Azerbaijan! Long live our Supreme Commander-in-Chief and our victorious Army!’
From Rajab Aghayev, Masalli, Azerbaijan
‘Dearest Mr. President,
I live in Gizilavar village in Masalli and run a small agricultural business here. Our people are fighting the Armenian fascists as I write. I, too, have volunteered to join the frontline. We have never seen such boosted morale in our district. There is a queue lining up in front of the military commissariat every day. Volunteers are trying to enlist to the army. Our people have lined up to avenge our martyrs. Everybody wants to be Mubariz Ibrahimov and Polad Hashimov. Our army has inspired great hopes in our people with their victories. There is an air of victory everywhere around. We are proud to be a part of such a nation of Heroes.
Thank you sincerely. Long live the Azerbaijani Army! Long live our Supreme Commander-in-Chief!’
From Mirmehdi Mammadov, Beylagan, Azerbaijan
‘Dear Mr. President,
Our lands have been invaded by fascist Armenian occupants for almost thirty years. Your visionary policy is leading to the recovery of our territories from occupation.
The triumphant military operations conducted by our mighty army have greatly boosted morale among people.
We strongly believe that our lands will shortly be liberated under Your leadership.
Victory is ours. God bless You.’
From Babek Hatamov, Bilasuvar, Azerbaijan
‘Dear Mr. President,
I am a 7th-grade student at Mubariz Ibrahimov Lyceum in Bilasuvar. My biggest wish is to see our National Hero avenged. I thank You for bestowing this joy upon us and for avenging Mubariz and thousands of our martyrs. My peers and I believe that the Azerbaijani flag will forever undulate in Karabakh through Your leadership and perseverance.’
From Ibrahim Abbaszade, Baku, Azerbaijan
‘My dear President,
My name is Ibrahim Abbaszade. I go to school number 240. I will soon be 10.
I support the Azerbaijani Army. The Azerbaijani Army is very strong.
I believe that Karabakh will soon be freed from Armenian fascists.
‘I am proud of being an Azerbaijani’, said our National Leader Heydar Aliyev. May the souls of our Great Leader and martyrs rest in peace.
I would also like to express my deepest gratitude to Türkiye in this letter because they always stand by us.
Karabakh is and will be ours!’
From Elshad Gaziyev, Mingachevir, Azerbaijan
‘Dearest President, Mr. Supreme Commander-in-Chief,
I express my deepest gratitude to You on behalf of my family, as You are making great contributions, as always, to the development of the state of Azerbaijan with Your visionary and persevering policy. Our National Leader always said, ‘I am proud of being an Azerbaijani.’ I am also proud to have a President like You.’
From Alagoz Safarova, Fuzuli, Azerbaijan
‘Dear Mr. President,
I have been fearlessly and honourably living at the frontline, facing the enemy, for almost 30 years as an internally displaced person from Fuzuli. I have always taught my students how important Your policy is for our country. My students and I have been once again convinced of this. Our mighty army has brought tears of joy to our eyes under Your leadership after a long time. Mr. President, my husband is now honourably serving his duty to the Motherland as a soldier, which makes me extremely proud as a wife, and as a mother. I truly believe that our zealous soldiers will soon raise our tricolour flag in Karabakh through Your leadership and the might of our army. This land is a Motherland of proud people. This Motherland is ours. Karabakh is ours. Karabakh is Azerbaijan! May God protect You and our valiant army.’
From Sahib Karimov, Guba, Azerbaijan
‘Dear President, Mr. Supreme Commander-in-Chief,
Our Glorious Army has never reconciled with the occupation of Azerbaijani territories by the Armenian butchers and is now expelling the enemy from our lands, carrying out the strong will of the Azerbaijani people. We thank You and our glorious army for this. I would like to offer my condolences to the families and all people of Azerbaijan for the heroic martyrs we have lost in the battles.
My elder son Osman Karimov and my younger son Hamidulla Karimov are sergeants, who have served at the frontline, in Chamanli village in Aghdam. They have both volunteered to join the battles at the front, which makes me a proud father. This Motherland belongs to all of us.
May God Almighty help our Supreme Commander-in-Chief and our heroic Army. Long live the independent Republic of Azerbaijan!’
From Bahman Bayramov, Bilasuvar, Azerbaijan
‘Dear Mr. President!
I consider You a nephew of mine as I have now reached an elderly age. Your policy has revived me and our people. All my grandchildren are in the army. They have been delivering the victorious tides of liberating our lands from the enemy, which bring tears of joy to my eyes.
I will turn 90 years old on 15 October. I am thankful to have lived long enough to see this day.
May God be Your guide! May God protect our People and our Army!’
From Rovshan Mammadov, Jabrayil, Azerbaijan
‘Dear Mr. President,
I congratulate You, Ms. Mehriban Aliyeva and all people of Azerbaijan with this joy of Victory You have bestowed on us on behalf of myself, my family and all people of Jabrayil. I wish You a long and healthy life. I, as an Azerbaijani and resident of Boyuk Marjanli village in Jabrayil, am proud of You. You have overwhelmed us with joy by ending almost 30 years of longing and returning our Jabrayil and several villages to us. May God protect You, Ms. Aliyeva and Azerbaijani soldiers.
Victory is ours, Karabakh is ours! Karabakh is Azerbaijan!’
From Elchin Amiraslanov, Gobustan, Azerbaijan
‘Dear Mr. Supreme Commander-in-Chief,
I heartily congratulate You and our people on this historic people. I believe that the Azerbaijani tricolour flag will soon undulate in Shusha, Aghdam, Khankendi and in all our occupied territories under Your leadership.
We, former fighters, are ever ready to sacrifice our life and blood for our Motherland under Your command. We support and welcome Your political course and military policy.
Mr. Supreme Commander-in-Chief, please do not understand this as a willingness to win a victory but stay aside. I declare with full responsibility that I am ready to sacrifice my life and blood for our Motherland.
God bless You and our nation on this hard, yet honourable path!’
