What they wrote to the President
President of Azerbaijan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev continues receiving letters.
We present some of them:
From Aykhan Rahimli, Baku, Azerbaijan
‘Our dear, beloved, kind President,
As a school student, I am proud of You, the Republic of Azerbaijan, and its valiant soldiers. I am proud of my Motherland, of being an Azerbaijani and of being born here. Although I am very young, I am also ever ready to sacrifice my life for my country. National Leader Heydar Aliyev and You have revived our state. We are proud to have a head of state like You. The Republic of Azerbaijan has further flourished and developed thanks to You. You are the National Hero of Azerbaijan for me. We thank You for everything. Karabakh is ours, Karabakh is Azerbaijan!’
From Nina Ujova, Ganja, Azerbaijan
‘Dear Honourable President, Mr Supreme Commander-in-Chief,
I am a retired resident of Ganja. I have had several positions at Ganja railway station for many years. Like all our residents of Russian descent in Ganja and all over Azerbaijan, we have always been enveloped in attention and care by the state and people of Azerbaijan. The Azerbaijani land, every inch of it has been dear and native to us, including the ancient Azerbaijani land of Karabakh.
The hateful enemy had not had enough of committing acts of vandalism, terror, and brutality against the people of Azerbaijan in our native Karabakh and other regions of our country for many years. They now cannot tolerate the victories we are penning on the battlefields in Karabakh and have started committing inhumane acts in other cities and regions of Azerbaijan, which once again shows that their character as a nation is imbued with terror.
The invaders have shelled Ganja, the second largest city in Azerbaijan, the city where I reside, which is a clear illustration of vandalism, lowness, malice, lack of culture, dishonour, cruelty, barbarism, and insidiousness.
Mr. Supreme Commander-in-Chief, we, the Russian nationals of Azerbaijan, who consider Azerbaijan their dear Motherland, love You very much! We are confident that our native lands will be recovered from such a hateful enemy through the bravery of our valiant officers and soldiers under Your command and we will all, along with all other ethnic minorities who are happy citizens of Azerbaijan, will see our tricolour flag undulate in every corner of Karabakh.
May God Almighty bless You on Your glorious path of historic truth You have been leading, proudly declaring ‘Karabakh is Azerbaijan’! Amen.’
From Sadraddin Babayev, Lankaran, Azerbaijan
‘Dear Supreme Commander-in-Chief,
I express our deepest gratitude to You on behalf of my family. We were overjoyed and inspired as You delivered the news of Jabrayil, occupied for many years, finally being recovered from the enemy. Everyone is aware that the Victory of the valiant Azerbaijani Army is the product of Your visionary policy. You have bestowed the greatest joy of our lives upon us. Our people are always proud of You. Be blessed, the brave son of our Motherland.
Dear President, we always witness how deeply You care about Azerbaijan as we watch Your speeches on television. You are a determined and unwavering politician and head of state of Azerbaijan.
Honourable Supreme Commander-in-Chief, we sincerely applaud You and wish good health to You and Your family.’
From Adalat Khalilov, Jabrayil, Azerbaijan
‘Dear Supreme Commander-in-Chief,
I would like to express our deepest gratitude on behalf of my family. We have been overjoyed with the news You delivered on the liberation of Jabrayil, which has been under occupation for many years. We congratulate all our people on the recovery of our native Jabrayil. Our people will always be proud of You.
Dear Supreme Commander-in-Chief, as long as our hands are capable of holding a weapon, we are ever ready to fight for the Motherland. Long live, the brave and courageous son of our Motherland!’
From Hasrat Mammadov, Khojavand, Azerbaijan
‘Dear President, Mr. Supreme Commander-in-Chief,
We are deeply grateful to You for bestowing upon us the joy of liberating the Hadrut settlement of our native Khojavand from Armenian occupation after twenty-nine years. We, the people of Khojavand, support Your visionary policy. You lead us from one victory to another with Your wise decisions and resolute position. We truly believe that our Army will pen many new victories under Your leadership.
Dear Supreme Commander-in-Chief, we, the people of Khojavand, always await Your order and declare that we are ever ready to fight against the hated enemy for the territorial integrity of our country.
Long live independent Azerbaijan!’
From Mehpara Ganbarova, Barda, Azerbaijan
‘Dear President, Mr. Supreme Commander-in-Chief,
We, the people of Barda, are not afraid of the shells the enemy has been firing at the civilian population. We do not leave our homes and withstand the enemy attacks, awaiting news of victory from You. We will soon raise the Azerbaijani flag in Kalbajar, Shusha, and Khankendi thanks to Your efforts and heroism of our valiant army. Your name will go down in the history of Azerbaijan in gold letters. We are endlessly thankful to You and our army and congratulate You on the successes we have and will achieve.’
From Toghrul Aghayev, Baku, Azerbaijan
‘Our dearest President,
‘I have been overjoyed with the counter-offensive operation launched by the Azerbaijani Army. We have liberated much of our lands from the occupant Armenian army. The cowardly Armenians are running away in fear, resorting to attacking our civilian cities and districts out of despair. I am confident that we will recover Karabakh very soon.
Karabakh is Azerbaijan!’
From Ahad Jabiyev, Aghdash, Azerbaijan
‘Dear President, Mr. Supreme Commander-in-Chief,
As the youth of Aghdash, I would like to express my joy and gratitude to You for delivering us the news of victory, penned by the glorious Azerbaijani Army, who has been truly authoring chronicles of heroism.
My only wish is to see every inch of our occupied lands recovered from the enemy. I am confident that we will witness those days very soon.
Karabakh is Azerbaijan! May God protect You and the people of Azerbaijan.’
From Sahib Safarov, Jabrayil, Azerbaijan
‘Dear Mr. Supreme Commander-in-Chief,
We have been following with great joy and pride, as have all the people of Azerbaijan, our victorious army recovered our historical lands, occupied by the Armenian army and their patrons for almost 30 years. This has been possible due to Your leadership. As you delivered my son Ramil Safarov from Hungary to Azerbaijan and pardoned him in 2012, You proved to the entire world that our state supports and protects its officers and citizens, regardless of where they are, despite the biased statements and positions of certain countries and international organizations. You are now demonstrating to the world that the state, people, and army of Azerbaijan are capable of liberating our internationally recognized lands at all costs. On behalf of the Safarov family and all our people, I express my gratitude to You, and our glorious army for rescuing our dear Jabrayil from Armenian usurpers after 27 long years. I ask God for the souls of our martyrs to rest in peace and healing for our wounded. We stand by You! Karabakh is ours! Karabakh is Azerbaijan!’
From Jafar Mammadov, Mingachevir, Azerbaijan
‘Dear Mr. President,
We are furious with the sudden attack on our lands by the Armenian aggressors. Those terrorists are yet again resorting to all kinds of violence to capture our territories, infiltrating our lands, and causing harm to the civilian population. We are confident that our glorious Army will soon carry out Your order to stop these intruders, chase them away from our lands and retaliate worthily. The enemy will be defeated, regardless of how cunning or strong it is.
Mr. Supreme Commander-in-Chief, we trust that we will return to our lands, lost to enemy foothold, thanks to Your resolute policy. Our Motherland will be whole again.
Long live our glorious Army! Long live our courageous sons!
I pray to God for the souls of our martyred brothers, who sacrificed their lives for the motherland, to rest in peace.’
From Rasim Mammadov, Baku, Azerbaijan
‘Dear President, Mr. Supreme Commander-in-Chief,
The recovery of the sacred Karabakh lands by the glorious Azerbaijani Army under Your command has boosted the people’s trust and confidence in their leader to newer heights. God willing, we will also liberate the holy Shusha city. The faith, trust, and love our people have for You is the biggest guarantee of this.
Mr. President, the members of the Coalition of Public Control, have and will eagerly follow all Your instructions both at the frontline and in the social, political, and economic life of our state.’
From Gasim Zeynalov, Aghdam, Azerbaijan
‘Our dearest President, Mr. Supreme Commander-in-Chief,
As a resident of Aghdam and a tractor driver at the Mechanical Irrigation Department, I heartily congratulate You and our mighty Army on the Victory You have won over the hated Armenian invaders.
May God protect You and our army. We are proud of our Army and our valiant sons. We are inspired and motivated by the decisions You make, and the steps You take.
Despite living at the frontline, we, the people of Aghdam, go about our daily lives as usual. The amelioration team I am a part of has been working even harder and more responsibly to cover the water needs of the people at a time of fierce battles around our homes.
Dear Mr. President, we, the ameliorators of Aghdam, wholeheartedly support Your successful and visionary domestic and foreign policy. We wish You good health from God and success in all Your endeavours.
May God protect You, Mr. President.’
From Shavluk Baijan, Ankara, Türkiye
‘Dear Mr. President,
I am a member of a family, driven from Azerbaijan to Igdir in Turkiye by the 1918-1920 massacres committed by the Armenians. My ancestors have raised us, cherishing memories of Azerbaijan. We have longed for our Motherland so deeply that my late father named my brother Azer, and me Baijan. God blessed me with work in Baku for some time and I am thankful to have seen my homeland.
Our elders always said, ‘God willing, we will one day get our lands back from the Armenian murderers.’ The day has finally arrived! I am ever ready to fulfil all tasks that befall on me on this path.
Dear President, I have only one request. Please do not take a step back under any circumstances! Türkiye stands with Azerbaijan with everything it has got!
May God protect You, our army, and our nation!’
