What they wrote to the President
President of Azerbaijan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Ilham Aliyev continues to receive letters.
We present some of them:
From Huseyn Aliyev, Arkhangelsk, Russia
‘Dear Mr. President,
I follow the happenings in my native country with deepest excitement and am delighted with every victory.
You are the hope of the Azerbaijani people, the guarantor of security of the country inside and outside its borders.
I pray to Allah for strength and power to You and our army to carry out Your holy work to the very end on the path of restoring our territorial integrity. I would also like to offer my deepest condolences to the families of our martyrs.’
From Mesut Karagoz, Istanbul, Türkiye
‘Dear Mr. President,
As you launched the liberation of Nagorno-Karabakh, our bleeding wound of many years has been soothed. The hearts of all people of Türkiye have started beating as one with Azerbaijan as the war started after the 27 September Armenian attack. May God bless Azerbaijan with a victory. Blessed be this holy path you have embarked on. We share the joys, sorrows, and victories of Azerbaijan. I carefully follow the triumphant advances of the Azerbaijani Army. I am rejoiced to see the unjust, oppressive, hypocritical, dishonest, terrorist Armenian army vanquished and unable to stand face-to-face with the Azerbaijani soldiers. I am 40 years old. I would like nothing more than to join the frontline and fight the battles with my heroic Azerbaijani brothers and destroy Armenian terrorists if I’m allowed to.
Ours prayers and hearts remain with You, Mr. President. We are all ready to sacrifice our lives for this cause. May God bless and help you.
Victory belongs to Azerbaijan. Karabakh is Azerbaijan!’

Hasan Hasanov, Baku, Azerbaijan
‘Dearest Mr. President,
I was born in Goycha district of Western Azerbaijan in 1977. I was in full-time active military service as an intelligence officer in the special military unit of our country. I fought against the Armenians in the Karabakh war, performing missions as a reconnoitre. I have extensive military experience in this field. My brother was martyred in the battles of Aghdara.
Mr. Supreme Commander-in-Chief, at these times of martial law in the Republic of Azerbaijan, I wish to participate in military operations for the liberation of our lands as an intelligence officer. It is my duty to the Motherland. I assure you that, should I be entrusted with such mission, I will muster all my strength, military knowledge, and skill to justify this trust.
I away Your orders, like all our citizens.’
From Elshad Mammadov, Gabala, Azerbaijan
‘Dear Mr. President,
The perfect organization of our military and Your decisive stance over the past years is finally giving Karabakh back to us. The entire world has been witnessing Azerbaijan’s strong and resolute army.
We, the IDPs in Gabala, express our deepest gratitude to You for bestowing upon us the most brilliant victories in the history of warcraft and wish You great success in Your work.
We are confident that our Azerbaijani flag will undulate in Khankendi and Shusha, our historic cradle, very soon. We, the IDPs, always await Your orders.
May God bless You!’
From Chingiz Babayev, Tovuz, Azerbaijan
Dear Mr. President,
I congratulate You on behalf of the veterans of Alibeyli village in Tovuz, who has been facing Armenian perfidy for over 30 years, on the successful battles fought for Karabakh.
The children of our village have been growing up under conditions of war, our villagers working on their crops under bullets. Despite the partial calm, we have had many victims among civilians all these years. But, please, do not worry about us. We are not afraid of the Armenians. They are the ones scared. Everyone in our region was eager to join our brave soldiers in the battles for Tovuz. And now we strive for Karabakh.
All our villagers and war veterans support the decisions You make for our Azerbaijan. We all declare as one that we are ever ready to recover Karabakh.
The prayers of all Azerbaijanis begin and end for Your health and strength. I am confident that there is no other leader like You in the entire world, so loved universally. We all love You from the bottom of our hearts, support You and stand by You. We all look forward to Your speeches every day, our eyes glued to the television screen. Your speeches soothe our hearts, thirsty for so long, and motivate us.
Long live, Mr. President! Thank You for everything!’
From Yusif Baghirov, Baku, Azerbaijan
‘Dear Mr. Supreme Commander-in-Chief,

Our nation has historically raised many a hero, coming out victorious from many an honourable battle. We are adding glorious new pages to the heroic history of our dear Azerbaijan. These are the pages we want to repeat looking at and reading. This history is the masterpiece of a very strong and powerful author.
May God protect You and our soldiers, Mr. Supreme Commander. We trust You and our soldiers and ever stand with You.’
From Shaig Zaidli, Yardimli, Azerbaijan
‘Dear President, Mr. Supreme Commander-in-Chief,
I convey my deepest gratitude from a remote mountainous village in Yardimli.
We celebrate You as the true architect of this victory and say a sincere ‘Thank you’ to the valiant, proud Azerbaijani soldier as we watch the newly recovered territories, the destroyed military equipment of the enemy and the war salvage on TV every day.
Our territories are finally liberated from occupation after many years of longing thanks to You. The people of Yardimli are proud of You. We do and will always support You.’
From Yunis Najafov, Aghdash, Azerbaijan
‘Dear Supreme Commander-in-Chief,
The sole reason of all the successes we have achieved both at the front and internationally is You. Our Armed Forces are penning heroic chronicles at the frontline under Your leadership this very moment.
Mr. President, You righteously noted that our tricolour flag will undulate proudly in Karabakh, Shusha, and Khankendi. On behalf of myself and all the youth of Aghdash, I thank You for the victories we have achieved and wish You good health, success, and even greater achievements.’
