Foreign Media Publicizes Armenian Aggression
One of the important aspects of the information war during the Patriotic War was to achieve having Azerbaijani truths published in foreign media. The article in the Columbian media about the Armenian occupation is a clear illustration of the matter at hand.
El Espectador newspaper, one of the leading media outlets in Columbia, has published an interview with Ambassador Mammad Talibov on the Nagorno Karabakh conflict, the latest aggressions by Armenia, and the current military operations.
Speaking on the history of the conflict, the ambassador noted that Azerbaijan was subjected to military aggression by Armenia immediately after regaining independence. Armenia has occupied a fifth of the Azerbaijani territories recognized internationally, as well as Columbia. These include Nagorno Karabakh and the seven adjacent regions.
The ambassador added that the four 1993 UN Security Council resolutions demanded the immediate and unconditional withdrawal of Armenian troops from all occupied Azerbaijani territories. 27 years have passed since and there has been next to no progress in the resolution of the conflict due to Armenia’s continued destructive stance.
The diplomat noted that Armenia started shelling the peaceful residential areas of Azerbaijan on 27 September. These attacks have so far claimed numerous lives among Azerbaijani civilians, including children, and inflicted numerous injuries. Armenian armed forces went as far as committing a true terrorist attack against the Azerbaijani nation, launching ballistic missiles at Ganja and Mingachevir, located far from military operations. Talibov continued by saying that the Azerbaijani army has been taking counter-attack measures to ensure the safety of the civilian population and liberate our occupied territories.
The reporter asked whether the conflict could be resolved around a negotiation table. Our representative responded that the main reason behind the conflict is the presence of the Armenian armed forces in the sovereign territories of Azerbaijan. The international community is currently calling on the parties to start a dialogue, but such a step cannot be taken unilaterally. The aggressor in the conflict is Armenia and everyone should see the difference between the aggressor and the victim. The ambassador stressed that the international community must demand the implementation of the UN Security Council resolutions and the liberation of occupied Azerbaijani lands.
