Prosecutor General Kamran Aliyev meets with Head of EU delegation to Azerbaijan Kestutis Jankauskas
On October 19, the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Azerbaijan Kamran Aliyev met with Head of Delegation of the European Union to Azerbaijan Kestutis Jankauskas.
Warmly welcoming the guests, the Prosecutor General emphasized the importance of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the European Union and stated that it is important to study the advanced experience of the countries included in the European Union in the field of national legislation.
The Prosecutor General highly appreciated the statements of the European Union condemning the initiation of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict by Armenia, including the shelling of Ganja, the city with a dense population. He emphasized that Armenian armed forces has committed crimes against peace and humanity shelling residential areas of Azerbaijan from heavy artillery since September 27, and caused death and injury of a large number of civilians as a result of missile attacks on Ganja, the second largest city of Azerbaijan, on October 4, 11 and 17.
Expressing his gratitude for the sincere reception, Kestutis Jankauskas touched on the bilateral relations and stressed that the European Union attaches great importance to the relations with Azerbaijan and that the relations are developing at a high level and successfully.
During the exchange of views on the current conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia, the EU representative emphasized that Nagorno-Karabakh is an integral part of Azerbaijan and underlined the importance of resolving the conflict within the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan with the involvement of the OSCE Minsk Group in accordance with the relevant UN Security Council resolutions.
Moreover, Kestutis Jankauskas recalled the European Union's recognition of the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan.
