OIC Youth Indonesia urges country's leadership to condemn Armenia's attack on Azerbaijan
The Youth on Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Indonesia has called on the country's leadership to strongly condemn Armenia's attack on Azerbaijan, Syafii Effendi, President of the OIC Youth Indonesia said at a meeting held at the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Indonesia on October 16.
Ambassador Jalal Mirzayev gave detailed information to the participants about the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict and the processes in the frontline zone.
On October 16, the board of the OIC Youth Indonesia issued a statement expressing deep concern over the war going on between Armenia and Azerbaijan since September 27 of this year.
The statement strongly condemned the attacks of the Armenian armed forces against Azerbaijan, especially against the civilians living outside the conflict zone. It also denounced the shelling of Ganja, the second largest city of Azerbaijan, and Mingachevir, which are located far from the conflict region of Armenia.
The document also highlighted the fact that Armenia violated the humanitarian ceasefire reached on October 10 with the mediation of Russia. In addition, the statement mentioned that on October 15, the Armenian shelling killed four civilians and injured four others in Tartar region. The OIC Youth Indonesia called on the Indonesian leadership to strongly condemn the attacks of Armenia and supports the resolution of the conflict based on UN Security Council Resolutions 822, 853, 874 and 884. The organization demands an immediate and unconditional withdrawal of Armenian armed forces from Nagorno-Karabakh, which is the land of Azerbaijan.
The organization called on the government of Indonesia, a non-permanent member of the UN, to urge Armenia to stop its aggression and withdraw its mercenaries from the occupied lands of Azerbaijan in accordance with the relevant international convention.
The OIC Youth Indonesia also called on Indonesian youth to closely monitor the ongoing conflict and be more active in preventing the spread of incomprehensible and false information on social media.
