‘Azerbaijan, we stand with you!’ Summit Hike to Mount Ağrı
Iğdır Governorship and the Youth and Sports Department have organized a summit hike to Mount Ağrı under the slogan ‘Azerbaijan, we stand with you!’.
The summit climb was dedicated to the 97th anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Türkiye and Azerbaijan’s struggle to restore its territorial integrity. It was attended by Engin Sariibrahim, the governor and chairman of Iğdır municipality, Colonel Yildiz Dogan, fifth field commander of the Turkish Armed Forces, Oguz Shukru Ener, the Iğdır Prosecutor General, Mustafa Ozdurhan, the Gendarmerie commander, Hussein Golluje, Police Chief and other officials and celebrated members of the local community.
Serdar Unsal, the prominent publicist and deputy chairman of the Federation of Türkiye-Azerbaijan Friendship Associations, says they started the ascension from the Meteor Pit. The hikers covered a distance of 6.5 kilometres to climb the 2100m-tall Ağrı Peak, chanting ‘One nation, two states’, ‘Karabakh is Azerbaijan!’, ‘Azerbaijan, we stand with you!’, ‘Long live Türkiye-Azerbaijan brotherhood!’, and ‘Our independence is eternal!’.
The hikers then participated in volleys fired from tanks and artillery in the Korhan plateau in support of the victorious Azerbaijani Army, determined to liberate Karabakh.
