Supporting the army
‘I am sure that my father is finally resting in peace’ – Daughter of National Hero
‘We had lost both my father and Karabakh. But I can finally rejoice as our lands are recovered from occupation’, Nurlana Mirzayeva, the daughter of Yusif Mirzayev, the National Hero of Azerbaijan, fallen during the First Karabakh War. The patriotic song ‘İgid Əsgər, Möhkəm Dayan’ (Brave Soldier, Stand Firm) was dedicated to him.
The martyr’s daughter talked of the victories of our valiant Army and the terrorist attack by Armenia against our civilians, adding how honoured she was to witness the liberation of the lands that her father sacrificed his life for.
‘We are both happy and sad: happy to see our martyrs and our people, who suffered from Armenian terror, be avenged. May Allah give more strength to our Army. These are truly proud moments in our lives. I watch the front tides every day. What saddens me, though, is to see Armenia launch rockets at innocent civilians and children. My heart breaks into pieces as I see them covered in blood.
But we are hopeful. We trust our Army. I am sure that my father can finally rest in peace. He had so many unfinished dreams. I was only 6 when he was killed, and I do not have many memories of him. Inshallah, I’ll see my father in heaven. My sorrow was doubled, as I had lost both a father and the Karabakh lands. Now, whereas, I rejoice. We are recovering our territories step by step. I speak to my father in my heart every day. I see people share his photograph on social happy and I am proud that he has not been forgotten.
My father will be in peace as he sees us live happily on those lands. They fought and died so that their children and grandchildren can live more safely. We could not give Karabakh to the Armenians.
We would also like peace. Children should not lose their fathers and homes. I know how much that wound hurts. I have felt that loss all my life. But what the Armenians are doing is beyond enmity. They are criminals and murderers. They left us no choice. I am a doctor. I have applied to provide medical assistance to our soldiers. If I get to bandage the wound of even one soldier, I will feel as if I’m healing my father’s wounds. They are our brothers, fathers, sons.
The ‘Brave Soldier’ song has turned into the anthem of our house. I named my son Yusif after my father. He says this song is our grandfather’s song. Shamistan Alizamanli and my father were close friends. He dedicated this song, written and composed by Shahin Musaoghlu, to my father’, the daughter of the National Hero concluded.
