Supporting the army
Young Artists from Astara Show Support for our Army
The valiant Azerbaijani Army has been dealing crushing blows to the enemy within the counteroffensive operation launched on 27 September in retaliation to the large-scale provocations by the aggressive and terrorist state of Armenia. Our brave military have been demonstrating true heroism as they have liberated several cities, villages, and strategic heights in fierce battles. Our people, from seven to seventy, have launched support campaigns throughout the country to support our army and inspire them for further victories, showing them much love and attention. Young artists in Siyaku village in Astara have come forward with their own initiative to show support for our soldiers.
Babash Hajiyev, a painter and sculptor in Siyaku, a village surrounded by mountains in Astara, established an art house in his native village three years ago to teach children art for free. Around 30 children are taught the secrets of painting, sculpture and tailoring at the art house, which the Siyaku villager has built with his own funds. His students include children with disabilities. The latest works by the young artists are dedicated to our tricolour flag, our martyrs and the victories won by our heroic Army.
Little artist Vafa Fataliyeva: ‘This painting you see is the portrait of the martyred ensign Panjali Teymurov, who showed great courage in the April battles. The honourable and short lives of our martyrs are an example for all of us to follow. Our valiant Azerbaijani Army is penning new victories every day. Inshallah, they will soon liberate our Shusha from the enemy as well.’
Telnaz Hajiyeva spoke of her paintings at the art house: ‘I have tried to depict our soldiers advancing on their tanks on the hated enemy. Each one of our soldiers is brave. Our army always wins, and they will soon liberate our occupied lands. We, the school students, are very proud of our mighty Army.’
Young artist Barish Hajiyev: ‘I have drawn Elshan Babayev, who was martyred during the Frist Karabakh War. I would like to call out to the entire world that our martyrs remain immortal and our Motherland shall never be divided. Karabakh belongs to us. Karabakh is Azerbaijan!’
These students, currently on school holidays, come to the art house twice a week and thus demonstrate their support for our Army through their creative work. Their teacher Babash Hajiyev says these children’s biggest dream is to see our powerful Army drive the enemy completely out of our Karabakh.
Hajiyev, who has worked at Astara Culture Department for 40 years, is working on the bust and bas-relief of martyr Panjali Teymurov, the legendary hero of the April battles, a Spec Ops soldier of our Armed Forces. The artist says Panjali’s comrades-in-arms are now avenging our fallen brave men on the battlefield: ‘I am putting the finishing touches to Panjali Teymurov’s bas-relief and statue. We all know perfectly of the bravery our Army demonstrated in the April battles. Panjali was one of them and his comrades are now penning new history. We always support our state, Army and Supreme Commander-in-Chief and try to educate patriotism in our children. We are working on pictures and portraits of our heroes, fallen in the Patriotic War, to eternize their memory. We are also paying tribute to our flag, the symbol of our statehood.’
The little girls, who are learning tailoring at the art house, mostly sew our tricolour flag these days. These flags will all be sent to Karabakh on Victory Day. These patriotic little ones are proud of thus showing their support for our valiant Army, who are putting an end to our 27-years’ longing for Karabakh.
