Military experts have endorsed the restrictions imposed on social networks throughout the country at a time when the state is conducting military operations for the liberation of our lands from Armenian occupation.
Reserve colonel Shair Ramaldanov says that this has prevented the enemy’s provocative goals on the information front. He has stated that restricting social networks throughout the country is a correct decision. However, netizens still use social networks through certain software. The enemy has been taking advantage of this, spreading an abundance of images and footage on social media. Non-expert civilians take some of these videos at face value. Such disinformation is mainly targeted at influencing people’s thinking. The audience cannot distinguish whether the footage has been edited or shot during the first war. They cannot tell whether it is Armenian equipment shot down by Azerbaijan or an enemy tank. Unprofessional viewers can be easily fooled, as they are not aware of important details in fake information.
Ramaldanov emphasizes the importance of paying attention to details in photographs and videos from the front. For example, while identifying whether a fact is genuine or fake when a piece of equipment is shot down, its remains, the direction of movement can be rather informative. It is crucial to pay attention to clothing or surrounding details if images are of a person.
The colonel in reserve says disinformation is often employed during wartime. Therefore, supporting our army requires not believing such materials that serve the interests of the enemy and not spreading them further. We must not forget that we can also contribute to our overall victory by only relying on information released by our official sources.
