What they wrote to the President
President of Azerbaijan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Ilham Aliyev continues to receive letters:
We present some of them:
From Sarigul Savzaliyeva, Sakarya, Türkiye
‘Dearest President, much-respected Mr. Supreme Commander-in-Chief!
I am originally from Türkiye, while my spouse comes from Azerbaijan. I love history very much and I am a history teacher. I would read about the massacres in Karabakh, in Khojaly, with tears in my eyes during my history lessons at university.
Meanwhile, I am watching the Azerbaijani army make history under Your leadership with tears of joy.
Please, do not have the slightest doubt that I will teach Your efforts that will become the turning point in the history of Azerbaijan to future generations.
We wholeheartedly support Your struggle to clear Karabakh from the enemy.
I would like to declare that we are ever ready to sacrifice our lives for Azerbaijan like every resident of the Republic of Türkiye under the leadership of our beloved President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. As Your beloved father, the great leader Heydar Aliyev said, we are one nation, two states. God willing, the victory will belong to the Azerbaijani army.
May God protect You and our heroic soldiers.’
From Atila Mehmet, Mersin, Turkiye,
‘Much respected President,
I pray to God for mercy and tenacity to You and Your people and for Your martyrs to rest in peace. I would want nothing more but to share Your burden and stand shoulder-to-shoulder with You in the challenges You are facing.
May Allah protect You, us, and the entire Islamic world. May He bless and protect You. Our treacherous enemies, always scheming against us, have finally seen what real power is.
I pray to God Almighty to aid Your people to recover Your occupied lands. As a Turk, I would like to always stand by Your side in Your struggle and serve the idea of ‘One nation, two states’. I am with You with my heart, soul, and prayers.
It would be an honour for me to fight alongside my brothers in restoring justice and, God willing, rise to martyrdom.
We no longer want our mothers and fathers to shed tears and our children to grow up without parents.
God bless You!’
From Galamirza Masiyev, Baku, Azerbaijan
‘Honourable Mr. President, our victorious Supreme Commander-in-Chief,
We, the citizens of Azerbaijan, have always believed in Your slogan ‘Azerbaijan is a strong state with a powerful army’. We were simply growing impatient at times. But we’ve also wholeheartedly believed that no one knew ‘what, when and how to do’ things.
We are so happy that our generation, the founders of independent Azerbaijan, were lucky enough to witness these days thanks to You. We are proud of our state, our Leader, our invaluable Commander, who is authoring magnificent history. A Leader, who organized and ensured the recovery of our territorial integrity, national identity, honour, and dignity has forever gone down in history as the Leader of our nation.
I am confident that the most productive and creative period of ‘Forward with Ilham’ is starting only now. I congratulate You and our people on these achievements. May God protect all our soldiers and officers, including my son who has volunteered for the frontline, and bestow victories upon us.
Victory belongs to us, Karabakh is Azerbaijan!’
From Rovshan Rustamov, Ismayilli, Azerbaijan
‘Our dear President,
I thank You for ending this 30-years’ longing for our lands and for the victories our glorious Army is penning every day under Your leadership.
Mr. President, I strongly believe that You are the National Hero of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The entire Azerbaijani nation is proud of You. The Azerbaijani flag is raised in all the regions and villages we liberate from occupation every day. I am confident that all our lands will soon be recovered from the enemy foothold and the Azerbaijani flag will undulate proudly in all our cities and districts.
May God bless You and May You ever be the protector of the Azerbaijani people!’
From Rovshan Zamanov, Mingachevir, Azerbaijan
‘Dear Supreme Commander-in-Chief!
The entire Azerbaijani nation stands with You. I, a citizen of Kalbajar, am proud of You. I am proud to have a Supreme Commander like You.
May God protect our victorious Army!
You are a Commander, whose name will go down in the history of Azerbaijan in golden letters! All people of Azerbaijan stand by You.
Our joy knew no boundaries as You personally delivered the news of the liberation of our occupied lands, including a part of Kalbajar.
Mr. President, You are also the hero of the entire Turkic world!
I live in the hopes and dreams of welcoming and hosting You in Kalbajar.’
From Khalida Asgarova, Ganja, Azerbaijan
‘Victorious Supreme Commander-in-Chief,
I, a mother of a martyr, thank You for the recovery of our lands, especially Fuzuli and the Lalatapa height, from the Armenian dashnaks.
My only son, Captain Zaur Ismayilov, served in a military unit in Horadiz settlement starting 2004. He and his soldiers trained day and night for the liberation of the Lalatapa height and awaited Your order.
My son was shot in the heart as he rescued the wounded soldiers from the trenches in the battles for Lalatapa.
I am proud of my son. Long live the Motherland! I both rejoice and grieve as a mother. I am happy because our lands in Karabakh are being recovered. I grieve because my son did not live to see these days, but I am confident that he can finally rest in peace.
My only wish is to see all our ranks liberated. May we soon win a victory. May God Almighty protect You. May He always bless You.’
From Besik Kuribabashvili, Sheki, Azerbaijan
‘Victorious Supreme Commander-in-Chief,
I was born in Meshabash village in Gakh in 1983. I served as the chief gunner of an anti-armour missile and deputy squad commander in the military unit in Alkhanli village, Fuzuli, in 2002.
We were overjoyed and proud to hear Your order. The time has finally ripened to liberate our occupied lands. We thank You wholeheartedly for giving us the opportunity for the moment we have yearned for, for the triumphant march that we all eagerly desired.
Mr. President, I, too, would like to fulfil my sacred duty before the Motherland as an Azerbaijani and a representative of a national minority at this difficult, yet glorious, time for our country, when all hearts beat along our sons at the front and everyone has risen to fight as one, chanting ‘Karabakh!’. Mr. Supreme Commander-in-Chief, I am ready to become a martyr, sacrificing my life and blood to the very last drop to liberate our homeland from the enemy. Rising to the heights of martyrdom is the ultimate happiness I have dreamed of all my life.
I wish You, as the worthy follower of our Great Leader, and our valiant Army great success on this glorious path.
I am ready to give my life for my country.
Karabakh is Azerbaijan!’
From Firdovsi Tahmazov, Lachin, Azerbaijan
‘Dear Mr. President,
I took part in the Karabakh battles without an arm from 1992 through 1994. I am ready to join the ongoing battles to liberate our lands so that our martyrs, troubled for thirty years, can finally rest in peace and the Armenian fascists get the retribution they deserve.
I am ever at Your disposal, our victorious Supreme Commander!
Karabakh is Azerbaijan!’
From Abil Mammadov, Tartar, Azerbaijan

My family and I applaud and support Your policy. We wish You success and victory on this path of justice You have embarked upon for the territorial integrity of our homeland.

From the Gubadli intellectuals, Gubadli, Azerbaijan
‘Dear Mr. President, victorious Supreme Commander-in-Chief,
The Patriotic War, launched under Your command on 27 September, has bestowed great joy upon our people with new victories every day and greatly boosted morale.
Every inch of Azerbaijani land is dear to us. But we must admit that hearing You personally announce the delivery of Gubadli from the enemy, the land we have longed for these past 28 years, where our loved ones are resting eternally, was beyond what words could ever express. Gubadli holds a special place in our lives and spiritual world. We do not know a way to fully express our joy. We truly believe that our dreams of visiting those lands and returning home will soon come true. Our people live with the deepest desire to hear from You the news of liberating Lachin, Kalbajar, Shusha, and Khankendi from the hated enemy.
We all perfectly understand that this victory, this victorious march, is the product of Your political will, Your determination, Your intelligence that has resisted the strongest pressures and overcome many obstacles. These victories have been possible only thanks to Your military prowess and commanding skills that inspire and strengthen our National Army. We are proud of You and endlessly thankful to You. Restoring our pride as a nation and our territorial integrity is an eternal service You have rendered for our people. From children to adults, everybody has a growing love for Ilham Aliyev in their hearts. Your name and image will forever be carved on the highest peak in every region recovered from occupation because it was a feat only a powerful President and Commander like Yourself could have achieved. It was You, who introduced Azerbaijan to the entire world with its people who would never submit to slavery and an army with excellent military prowess on the battlefield. We are forever with You and at the forefront of supporters of Your policy that will lead our country to brighter days ahead. We are eternally grateful to You for bestowing these joy and glorious days upon us.
