What they wrote to the President
President of Azerbaijan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Ilham Aliyev continues to receive letters.
We present some of them:
From Mushfig Amirarslanov, Saint-Petersburg, Russia
‘Dear Mr. President,
We, Azerbaijanis living abroad, are proud of You. We follow all of Your speeches and interviews with great interest.
May God bless You and the brave Azerbaijani soldiers. We all pray that You will soon bestow upon us the news of Victory and save our country from this misery.
My nephew Kamran is also on the frontline. I am proud of him. We support all the decisions You make. No one can break our unity.
I wish, God willing, You will soon clear Azerbaijan of all enemies supported by the trust of all our people.’
From Islam Huseynov, Ulyanovsk, Russia
‘Dearest Mr. President,
All Azerbaijanis around the world are all focused on what is happening in our country. You, as the victorious Supreme Commander-in-Chief, are leading our people in our fight for our territorial integrity and our war for justice. Huge amounts are spent on evil and slander campaigns against our country.
Azerbaijan’s open and clear messages to the world are being distorted. One of the most important tasks for us all is to fend off information attacks to convey the truths and goals of Azerbaijan to the world. This is the common duty of every patriot!
Mr. President, on behalf of all Azerbaijanis in Ulyanovsk, I wish to convey our ardent support to You and all our military personnel participating in the recovery of Karabakh and the establishment of peace in Azerbaijan. We always stand with You!
We trust Your wisdom, goodwill, and determination. We believe that You always work hard to protect the interests of our people and state. May God multiply Your determination and strength and empower our people through You.’
From Yegana Nasirli, Imishli, Azerbaijan
‘Dear Mr. President Ilham Aliyev!
Through this letter, I wish to convey my heartfelt wishes for the joy of Victory to You and all the people of Azerbaijan. Brave son of our people, our wise head of state, You are ending 30 years of longing. We are proud of You.
Since the beginning of the Patriotic War, I have been eagerly waiting for Your speeches on TV and following Your every word, knowing that You are about to deliver good news. I, too, would like to take up arms and fight against the hated enemy without any hesitation. But I cannot do it as I am a mother of two daughters. Long live the brave Azerbaijani sons for protecting us and teaching the enemies a proper lesson.
I am happy to be an Azerbaijani and have a head of state like You. May God protect You!
Victory belongs to us! Long live the Azerbaijani soldier! Karabakh is Azerbaijan!’
From Omar Asadli, Yevlakh, Azerbaijan
‘Mr. President,
I am 7 years old. My grandmother is helping me to write this letter. I live in Yevlakh and I love our home very much. Whenever we go somewhere for a visit, I want to go back home. To me, my home is my Motherland. My grandmother says 30 years is a long time. I know that 30 years ago children my age were displaced from their homes. I also know that being a refugee means not being able to return home even if you want it badly. I know well what they have suffered. Now, 30 years later, those people are one step away from their homes, and their lands. Our lands are recovered thanks to You. I am overjoyed. I know that everyone loves their home just as I do. Everyone will soon return home, and the displaced people will again feel the age when they were drawn away from their homes. I am sure of that. You will give them their childhoods back. You will give them a new life.’
From Heyvagul Veliyeva, Gubadli, Azerbaijan
‘Dear Mr. President,
I appeal to You as a mother of a martyr. Our army is penning great victories under Your leadership. We are overjoyed to hear the news of victory. I am confident that all our territories will soon be recovered. I am endlessly grateful to You. You are ever in our prayers. May God protect You and our army.’
From Sahib Gullarov, Neftchala, Azerbaijan
‘Dear President, victorious Supreme Commander-in-Chief,
I, a citizen of Azerbaijan, like and support every step You have been taking to liberate Azerbaijani lands from occupation. I pray to God to help and guard You on this glorious path of justice. We are proud of our Army and brave soldiers. We always stand with You. We believe and trust You. Karabakh belongs to us, Karabakh is Azerbaijan!’
From Rasul Hajizada, Baku, Azerbaijan
‘Dear President, victorious Supreme Commander-in-Chief,
I am proud to be a citizen of a country, governed by You. There are many geniuses in this world. You, on the other hand, have proved to be a genius commander through this war You have waged for the territorial integrity of our homeland. I would like to let You know that we, all Azerbaijanis, wholeheartedly support our holy Patriotic War to reinstate the territorial integrity of our country. My entire family loves You very much and we always look forward to Your speeches. We are proud to be Azerbaijanis! Karabakh is Azerbaijan!’

Our victorious Supreme Commander, I am proud to be an Azerbaijani and have a head of state like You.
Karabakh is Azerbaijan!’
From Famil Umudov, Shamakhi, Azerbaijan
‘Dear President,
I, Famil Umudov Tevekkul oghlu, live in Charhan village in Shamakhi. God bless You. Azerbaijan has been developing by the day thanks to You. Azerbaijan is braving through this war, while our soldiers are advancing daily. We owe it all to You as much as our soldiers. Our state and people will always triumph thanks to Your foresight and resolute policy. God willing, our flag will soon undulate in Karabakh, Shusha, and will never come down again. Shamakhi stands with You and the Azerbaijani Army. Along with conscripts from Shamakhi, many volunteers have also joined their ranks.
Mr. President, our present results are the fruit of Your wise policy, speeches, and strong organization, because we trust You and are proud of You. May God soon bestow upon us the joy of victory. My fellow villagers join me in thanking You deeply.
We shall never forget the care and attention You showed us during last year’s earthquake. The damaged houses in Shamakhi were either restored or rebuilt and delivered back to the people.
Dear President, our recent successes and sustainable development are the products of Your hard work. This is the extension of great leader Heydar Aliyev’s heritage. I believe that our Army will win. Praise to our President, our Supreme Commander, who writes the glorious history of Azerbaijan through one victory after another. Long live our President!’

I am in the 5th grade at school. I always watch Your speeches on TV and applaud You. I thank You for recovering 4 of our regions and 200 villages from occupation and returning them to us. This war is our cry for justice. My father is also serving on the frontline as a surgeon. I pray every day for You, my father, and our soldiers. May Allah protect You, my father, and all our soldiers and officers! With the hope to return all of our Karabakh very soon… I love You very much.
Karabakh is Azerbaijan!’
