The Chinese media outlets have spread news on the Armenian missile strike on Azerbaijan’s second-largest city Ganja in Chinese, English and Russian.
Referring to the statement made by the President of Azerbaijan - Head of the Foreign Policy Department of the Presidential Administration Hikmet Hajiyev, it was stated that Armenia opened fire not only on Ganja, but also on other civilian settlements. It was reported that the missiles targeted Mingachevir, where there is a large reservoir and a power station, were destroyed.
The Chinese media outlets stated that the strike was made during the night hours, while most residents of the Ganja city were sleeping. The news also presented the statements made by witnesses about killings and injuries.
With reference to the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Chinese media reports that 60 civilians were killed, 270 were injured and 90 apartment buildings and 327 civilian objects were destroyed in Azerbaijan as a result of the clashes, which started on September 27.
The news also gave information about the history of the conflict. It was noted that the Nagorno-Karabakh region is the internationally recognized territory of Azerbaijan. There was a war between Armenia and Azerbaijan in the 1990s. The military clashes that started on September 27 were heavy battles on the contact line following the declaration of the ceasefire in 1994.
