The Italian newspaper L'Opinione has published an article entitled “Pashinyan’s own goal: The war against Azerbaijan”.

The article by Italian journalist Domenico Letizia provides information that the civilian population and infrastructure of Azerbaijan were subjected to fire during the non-stop fighting that erupted after Armenia launched attacks on Azerbaijan on September 27. It is also noted that on October 4, Armenian armed forces targeted Ganja, the second largest city of Azerbaijan, expanding the scale of fighting outside Azerbaijan’s Nagorno-Karabakh region.

The author informs that there are dead and injured among the civilian population of Azerbaijan, and more than 500 private houses were destroyed or severely damaged. The Italian journalist points out that Armenia ignores the fact that international law stipulates the expectation of a difference between military personnel and civilians, military and civilian facilities in military operations.

The journalist notes that, in fact, all of this was deliberately committed by Armenia, it was not accidental, and the main reasons for the conflict that has flared up in the current situation should be sought within Armenia. At this time, the author conveys to the Italian public the internal factors that forced Armenia to start its current military operations.

Giving detailed information about the factors that led to the escalation of the tension within Armenia, Letizia recalls the decision made by the internal opposition in Armenia to unite in order to condemn the current policy of the Pashinyan regime before the clashes, and that the opposition plans to take to the streets on October 8 in the capital Yerevan with the demand for radical changes in the government. At the same time, he emphasizes that there have been changes in the ruling regime of Armenia in recent months, including the resignations of the heads of law enforcement agencies.

Referring to the joint statement issued by the opposition parties of Armenia before the fighting, the author states that the plight of the Armenian population, which is facing a decline in health care, and an economic and employment crisis, is observed to worsen during the pandemic.

At the same time, the article mentions that Nikol Pashinyan, who came to power in 2018 as a result of the "velvet revolution" operation, had expectations of the people to end the intolerable corruption and human rights violations in the country, and to achieve democracy, economic and social development. But Pashinyan failed.

The journalist also explains why the escalation at the front line has benefited Pashinyan: “All this shows that Pashinyan, who overthrew the former military criminal junta, established a revolutionary dictatorship in the country in response to the people's hopes for democracy. The Nagorno-Karabakh issue has become a key tool in the hands of Pashinyan and his wife to divert attention from the accusations against them.”

“Every time Pashinyan and his wife are accused of illegal actions, they make provocative statements and actions on Nagorno-Karabakh, including Pashinyan's attempt to change the format of negotiations, through the involvement of Nagorno-Karabakh Armenians, sending his son to serve in the occupied territories of Azerbaijan, his declaration “Nagorno-Karabakh is Armenia, full stop”, the launch of a military operation on July 12 at the Armenian-Azerbaijani state border, Hakobyan's participation in the courses of combat and shooting training in Nagorno-Karabakh.”

“The attack against Azerbaijan on September 27 is only the last piece in this long chain, but the military successes that Azerbaijan is achieving suggest that a near end to Pashinyan's power is likely. On the other hand, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, as Chairman of the Non-Aligned Movement, in his speech in video format at the high-level meeting on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the United Nations on the sidelines of the seventy-fifth session of the UN General Assembly, about Pashinyan's latest moves, had declared that: "Armenia's aggressive rhetoric and provocations demonstrate that Armenia is preparing for a new aggression against Azerbaijan”,” the author concludes.

Azərbaycan Ordusunun sentyabrın 27-də işğalçı Ermənistan silahlı qüvvələrinə qarşı başladığı əks-hücum əməliyyatında əldə etdiyi möhtəşəm qələbələr haqqında bundan sonra kitablar yazılacaq, filmlər çəkiləcək. Amma indidən tam əminliklə deyə bilərik ki, cəbhə uğurlarımızın ən başlıca səbəbi Prezident, Ali Baş Komandan İlham Əliyevin həyata keçirdiyi güclü dövlət, güclü ordu strategiyası, milli birlik və döyüşçülərimizin ruh yüksəkliyi idi.
