Gizilhajili Village in Goranboy under artillery fire (Azertag)
Armenian armed forces continue shelling densely populated Azerbaijani areas located far from the battle zone. As the enemy shelled Gizilhajili village in Goranboy, they substantially damaged several houses. Our film crew visited the damaged houses, filmed the destruction, and talked to the residents and victims of the shelling.
A rocket has seriously damaged Gulnara Husseinova’s house. It was only fortunate that they had not been at home when the incident happened, thus no one was injured. ‘A fire broke out in my house after the shelling. They destroyed my house. I was so lucky to have the neighbours and villagers, who stopped the fire immediately. The enemy has shown true colours by targeting civilians. But this does not scare us away. We trust our soldiers and our President. May God protect them. We all pray to hear the news of victory by the Azerbaijani Army.’
Karabakh veteran, villager Khalil Allahverdiyev said that the Armenians will not be able to achieve their goals by shelling the villages: ‘We are not going anywhere. These are our lands. They run away scared of our army, which is why they target our villages. Let it be known to the enemy that the Azerbaijani Army will continue destroying them until all our lands are recovered. They must quit Karabakh.’
The villager said that the Armenian soldiers fled the battlefield, leaving behind their equipment, weapons, and documents, as they did not have the courage to face the Azerbaijani soldier. ‘We trust our army and our Commander-in-Chief. We know that our lands will soon be liberated under the leadership of our Commander-in-Chief. The good news of recovering our villages and strategic heights has boosted the morale in the village, as it did all over the country. No one has left anywhere. We are all in our homes. We are confident that our lands will soon be liberated from occupation’, Allahverdiyev shared.
A villager of Gizilhajili Aslan Aliyev’s daughter’s house has also been the target for heavy artillery. ‘My daughter had some visitors over. The children were playing outside when we suddenly heard a loud explosion. We quickly brought the children inside. But the baby remained in the car. That child got a back injury. The house is also damaged. This is a manifestation of Armenian fascism. We know them from the atrocious genocide committed in Khojaly. Nevertheless, we are not afraid of the enemy. Their evil intentions will fail. Karabakh is Azerbaijan and it will remain so. Our valiant army has been retaliating worthily.’
Seventy-two-year-old Jamil Eminov noted that although the rockets damaged the property in the village, the people trust the army and are back to their daily jobs: ‘Our army protects us. We have a strong President, Commander-in-Chief, and a strong army with us. The Armenians are already failing. They, too, understand this. The enemy is targeting the civilians because they cannot face the Azerbaijani soldier. But it will not work either because Victory is ours.’
Several rockets fired by the Armenian army fell onto empty fields, without exploding.
On 5 October the heavy artillery shelling of civilian settlements in Goranboy killed a resident of Gizilhajili, Raziya Abbasova Bayramali gizi (born 1955). A rocket that fell on a house completely destroyed it, injuring Mehdi Hasanov Ibrahim oghlu (1958), his daughter Sevinj Hasanova (1984) and his young grandson Eljan Hasanov Elgun oghlu (2011). A shrapnel of a rocket that fell onto an empty field injured Rashim Alakbarov Nadir oghlu (1969). They are all admitted to the hospital with various degrees of bodily injuries.
