Azerbaijani embassy in Brazil holds briefing for journalists
On October 8, Azerbaijan’s Embassy in Brazil held a briefing for local and foreign media representatives.
Speaking at a briefing attended by nearly 30 media representatives, Ambassador Elkhan Polukhov informed about the next aggression carried out by Armenia against Azerbaijan since September 27 and the worthy response given by the Azerbaijani Army to the enemy. Speaking about the history of the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the diplomat stressed that Azerbaijan’s just position is based on the norms and principles of international law.
Noting that in 1993, the UN Security Council passed four resolutions, which formed the main principles for conflict resolution, the diplomat recalled the participation of Brazil, a non-permanent UNSC member, in the preparation and adoption of these resolutions. He stated that the international community has failed to demand the implementation of the resolutions over the past 27 years.
Ambassador Polukhov said that Armenia, in a gross violation of the requirements of international law, fires artillery and rockets at Azerbaijan's civil and industrial infrastructures, oil and gas pipelines, reservoirs, and residential areas located far from the conflict zone. Armenia will be responsible for this.
Emphasizing that Brazil is home to a large Armenian community, the ambassador also brought to the attention of journalists that the Armenian leadership attracts foreign mercenaries to the conflict zone through the Armenian diaspora.
Ambassador Polukhov then answered the journalists’ questions.
The briefing also featured the screening of video and the display of photos about the conflict.
