Azerbaijan briefs Uzbek journalists on Armenia’s military provocations
Azerbaijan’s Embassy in Tashkent held a press conference to inform Uzbek journalists about the latest situation at the line of contact between Azerbaijani and Armenian troops.
Azerbaijani Ambassador Huseyn Guliyev provided detailed information to Uzbek journalists about Armenia’s recent military provocations and the counteroffensive operations launched on September 27 by the Azerbaijani Army in response to the large-scale attacks by Armenian armed forces.
“The aggressive attacks launched by Armenian armed forces on the Azerbaijani positions are a continuation of Armenia’s military provocations in recent months, the enemy’s attempted attacks in the direction of Tovuz from July 12 to 16, the attempted sabotage in the direction of Goranboy on August 23, as well as the illegal resettlement of peoples of different countries in Nagorno-Karabakh and Shusha,” he said
Ambassador Guliyev pointed out that during the next military aggression against Azerbaijan, the Armenian armed forces violated the norms and principles of international law, mainly the norms of international humanitarian law, the 1949 Geneva Convention and its Additional Protocols, the decisions, and resolutions of the UN Security Council, committing crimes against the civilian population.
“The four relevant resolutions passed by the UN Security Council demand an unconditional withdrawal of Armenian armed forces from the occupied Azerbaijani territories. However, Armenia keeps ignoring the relevant UN resolutions, as well as numerous decisions of other international organizations,” the diplomat said.
He noted that in recent days, Armenian armed forces have been firing missiles at the cities of Ganja and Mingachevir, as well as the districts of Barda, Beylagan, Aghjabadi, Tartar, and Goranboy, leaving civilians dead and injured.
“This is a war crime, and Armenia will pay for its actions. According to the latest data, as a result of the Armenian aggression, 28 people were killed and more than 170 people were injured. Moreover, over 900 houses were destroyed or damaged,” the diplomat added.
Later on, Ambassador Guliyev answered the journalists’ questions.
