Assistant to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration Hikmet Hajiyev gave an interview to Sky News Arabia. During the interview, the Presidential aide spoke about Armenian aggression against Azerbaijan.
Answering the question about the Armenian leader accusing Azerbaijan, he said that his accusations were groundless. The Armenian leader does not speak about the responsibilities of his country and occupation of the Azerbaijani territories. Armenia has occupied Nagorno-Karabakh for 30 years. Armenia pursued a policy of ethnic cleansing against one million Azerbaijanis. They destroyed the Islamic heritage of Azerbaijan. Armenians bombed our residential settlements. We have held negotiations with them for 30 years. However, the negotiations were violated due to Armenian provocations. Why did Armenian troops slink to Azerbaijani territories?! Armenia bears responsibility for all these actions. We demand Armenia to withdraw its troops from Azerbaijan. The negotiations will be held when the occupation ends.
Hikmet Hajiyev stated that Armenians and Azerbaijanis lived jointly in Nagorno Karabakh. Armenians expelled Azerbaijanis from this region. And now they speak about predestination. Azerbaijanis were deprived of their rights. We recognize all the rights of our citizens of Armenian origin. When the occupation ends, Azerbaijani IDPs will return and they will live together again.
Speaking about Turkey-Azerbaijan relations, the official stated that the two countries have close relations. Participation of the Turkish side in the conflict is another Armenian falsification. Turkiye supports Azerbaijan politically and diplomatically. The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) also supports Azerbaijan’s just position. We highly appreciate it. The international law is on the side of Azerbaijan. We don’t need any foreign combat forces.
