Myth of "invincible" Armenian army shattered - Azerbaijan MP (AzVision)
The interview given by President Ilham Aliyev to the Italian newspaper La Repubblica on November 2 was of paramount importance in terms of again conveying Azerbaijan's righteous position to the world community, said MP Hikmat Babaoglu.
He noted that such interviews also aim to strengthen the achievements of the Azerbaijani army on the battlefield at the political and diplomatic level.
“Along with military successes, the achievement of diplomatic success is one of the most important tasks at the current stage. Therefore, the interviews President Ilham Aliyev has been giving to the world’s leading media entities since September 27 create a political security umbrella for the success of our army, which opens good opportunities for the next steps. First of all, pointing out the legal aspects of the issue, the President stated that Armenia is an aggressor and that this fact of occupation has been going on for almost 30 years, that at this stage the relevant international organizations have not taken any steps to solve the problem and all peace negotiations have been ineffective. Of course, Azerbaijan could no longer tolerate this, and Armenia's new military and political provocations caused the conflict to enter an active phase. The Azerbaijani Army showed its strength to the whole world by achieving serious military achievements in a short period. Our army shattered the myth of the “invincible” Armenian army that had been forming for years,” the lawmaker said.
MP Babaoglu emphasized that having inflicted a heavy blow to the fascism-based occupation policy of Armenia, Azerbaijan has paved the way for new conditions for the establishment of peace in the region.
“Azerbaijan also managed to prevent terrorists attracted by Armenia from committing crimes. Thus, a new military and political reality emerged in the region. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan was forced to call the leaders of several countries to ask for help. This was a historical lesson to the occupying country and its terrorist army.
However, despite all this, Azerbaijan is still committed to international law and its requirements, to solving the problem through negotiations as soon as possible,” he added.
However, the lawmaker stated that Armenia keeps violating the humanitarian ceasefire.
“The Armenian armed forces continue to commit war crimes and terrorist acts by targeting the civilian population of Azerbaijan. Moreover, Armenia grossly violated international law by attracting foreign fighters, mercenaries, and terrorists from the Middle East to the ranks of the so-called “Nagorno-Karabakh army”. Therefore, until the occupation ends, the Azerbaijani army will continue its legitimate operations based on international law. Azerbaijan will liberate its lands from occupation and ensure peace and integration in the region,” he concluded.
