“Martyrs’ children have been waiting for this day for a long time” - daughter of National Hero (AzVision)
“My father had never accepted invitations to parties. He had always said that parties would be arranged in Karabakh after its liberation from occupation,” said Adalat Aznaurova, the daughter of Azerbaijan’s National Hero Iskandar Aznaurov, who is of Meskhetian Turkic origin. Isgandar Aznaurov, who was martyred in the First Karabakh War, was known as “Artilleryman Isgandar” in the army.
The national hero’s daughter said that although she lives in Turkey, her heart always beats together with Azerbaijan.
“We’re closely following what is happening. I’m currently residing in Turkey. However, my heart beats with Azerbaijan. I’m deeply saddened by the news of the killing of civilians by Armenia. But I rejoice over the successful military operations of the Azerbaijani Amy. My father was martyred for Karabakh. The blood of our martyrs is avenged. The ongoing battles in Karabakh are very important for us, we’re very excited. Every time we shed tears of joy. This is how I feel when I talk to you now. I can't stop myself from crying,” she said.
Aznaurova stated that the tragedies experienced by the Azerbaijani people during the First Karabakh War caused discouragement. “I know that our army was brave even then. However, the people experienced a tragedy like Khojaly. Those were sad days. Now the situation has changed. The Azerbaijan people have a high spirit and enough strength. Earlier, when Khojaly and Kalbajar were mentioned, I felt a twinge, and martyrs were coming before my eyes, I shuddered. I don't feel these feelings anymore. Now the hope of liberating our territories excites and makes us proud. These feelings cannot be explained. Deep feelings,” she added.
Aznaurova said she was 9 years old when her father became a martyr.
“I couldn't see him much. He was at the front. We were longing for his face. When he was invited to parties, he said that after the liberation of Karabakh, we would arrange parties in those lands, but I cannot come now. He did not lose hope. He wanted more. If he was alive, he would be overjoyed. He would go to the front without hesitation. I do not doubt it. I had a dream. I think my father is at peace. My mother is also happy and she goes to the regions where her husband was fighting. I tell her that there is danger at any moment, and to be careful. She says, I am not afraid, I am the wife of a martyr, if necessary, I will become a martyr,” she concluded.
