“I’m no longer an internally displaced person” (AzVision)
“I had guests at home when I heard the news about the liberation of the first four villages of Gubadli. I rejoiced over the news. Long live the Azerbaijani Army! We are grateful to the Supreme Commander-in-Chief for giving us this joy,” said Yazgul Rahimova, a resident of Gubadli’s Zilanli village.
Rahimova said she felt happy because his homeland was liberated from occupation.
“I have many memories of our district. When I hear the news of the liberation of the villages of Gubadli, the memories come alive in front of my eyes. It has been 27 years since we became internally displaced. I am no longer an internally displaced person. I felt so bad when we were told this status. I said that I am an Azerbaijani, I am not an IDP. But today I am thankful that the longing has ended and I will soon return to Gubadli,” she added.
Rahimova, who currently residing with her daughter in a town built for IDPs in Sumgayit city, is looking forward to the day she will return to her native village.
“When I left Gubadli, I was 16 years old. I was married. I came to Sumgayit with my 40-day-old child. On April 13, 1994, my husband was martyred in Aghdam. Many villages of Gubadli have already been freed from occupation. I was young when I left Gubadli, and after 27 years I will return to my homeland barefoot. First, I will visit my mother's grave. Then I will look for our own house. I am looking forward to these days,” she concluded.
