Journalist Giordano Stabile of the reputable Italian "La Stampa" newspaper wrote about the next military aggression of the Armenian armed forces against Azerbaijan starting from September 27: The article titled "The conflict characterized by Nagorno-Karabakh, drones and mercenaries is flaring up again. It is Armenia, which involves foreign fighters, Azerbaijani ambassador says,” includes views voiced by the Ambassador to Azerbaijan in Italy, Mammad Ahmadzadeh in his interview.
The article provides information that since September 27, intense fighting has been going on on the contact line against the background of the next military aggression by the Armenian armed forces against Azerbaijan. It was stated that Azerbaijan has responded to provocations with its military superiority over Armenia and the most modern military technology, and if these provocations continue, the Armenian side will suffer heavy losses.
Responding to journalist’s questions about the conditions of Azerbaijan for dialogue, ambassador Mammad Ahmadzada said: “The only way for dialogue is an immediate, unconditional and complete withdrawal of the Armenian armed forces from the occupied territories of Azerbaijan in compliance with the UN Security Council resolutions adopted in 1993. Some 20% of Azerbaijan’s territory, including the Nagorno Karabakh and 7 surrounding regions has remained under illegal occupation by Armenia for roughly 30 years. Over a million Azerbaijanis have become refugees and IDPs in their own lands. The negotiations, which have been going on for nearly 30 years, did not yield any result.”
In his article, the journalist noted that Azerbaijan, which has great financial resources, has purchased modern weapons in recent years to raise the potential of its armed forces. Responding to the journalist's question about how Azerbaijan acquired this arsenal, the diplomat said: “To increase our ability of self-defence, we openly speak about our purchase of all available equipment at market price. It is necessary to ask how a poor country like Armenia, without financial resources and drowning in debt, buys so many weapons. It is no secret that following the events of July 12, more than a thousand tons of military goods were imported to Armenia from different directions.”
Referring to Mammad Ahmadzadeh’s statements, it was stated that Armenia prepared for a new war to launch a sudden attack against Azerbaijan, and on September 27, the Armenian armed forces committed another provocation by exposing Azerbaijani military positions and residential areas to shell from large-calibre weapons and heavy artillery. “Azerbaijan does not have any claims for the area of other countries. The question must be asked, what are the Armenian troops doing in our lands?”
Besides, answering the question about the purposeful misinformation spread by Armenia about the involvement of mercenaries from the Near East from the Azerbaijani side, the diplomat said: “The Azerbaijani Army is prepared enough to defend its lands and people. Azerbaijan owns a properly trained army and a potential reserve force to be mobilized. Compared to Armenia with a population of two million, our country with a population of 10 million does not need human resources.”
The diplomat also mentioned the fact that Armenian President Armen Sarkissian confirmed the involvement of foreign fighters from the Armenian side in his interview to “Al Jazeera”. The diplomat added that there was no need to comment on the Armenian president’s opinions. Surprisingly, these views are not properly condemned by the international community.
