Adviser of the Middle East and Africa Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Elnur Mammadzadeh joined the live broadcast of the news program of the Israeli "I24" television channel broadcast in Arabic.
Elnur Mammadzade comprehensively answered the presenter's questions about French President Emmanuel Macron's statement accusing a number of countries of sending mercenaries from Syria to Azerbaijan, as well as Turkey's demands for the complete withdrawal of Armenian troops.
Elnur Mammadzade said: “First of all, we have to find who is guilty. We, the Republic of Azerbaijan, have been suffering from the Armenian occupation for 30 years. Armenia occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijani lands and implemented a policy of ethnic cleansing in the occupied territories. Undoubtedly, the statements of the heads of some states have no basis, these statements are not based on any evidence or evidence. We want to highlight that the brave Azerbaijani army is capable of liberating our occupied lands from the enemy. The truth is with us, international law is on our side. In 1993, 4 resolutions on the conflict were adopted by the UN Security Council. Decisions and resolutions adopted by OIC, UN, PACE, and other authoritative regional and international organizations unequivocally recognize Nagorno-Karabakh and seven surrounding regions as an integral part of Azerbaijan and demand an immediate cessation of the occupation of Azerbaijani territories and the withdrawal of Armenian armed forces. We believe that such statements have no basis."
He stated that Turkiye is one of the largest countries in the region. Turkiye has always been adherent to truth, justice, international law, and legislation. Turkey once again underlines the demand for the implementation of the resolutions of the UN Security Council, which demand the cessation of aggression of Armenia against Azerbaijan, the immediate withdrawal of the Armenian troops from the territories of Azerbaijan, and the return of internally displaced persons to their native lands. As a result of this occupation, more than 1 million Azerbaijanis were displaced from their native land. We feel certain that the brave Azerbaijani army will liberate our lands from occupation and soon we will raise the Azerbaijani flag in the occupied territories. I would like to emphasize once again that other states have no intervention in this conflict.
Referring to one of the Azerbaijani officials, the presenter stated that Israel sends military aid to Azerbaijan. Some claim that aircraft are used in fighting.
In the end, the presenter asked to what extent the European states are worried about the intensification of the current conflict, considering that Azerbaijan's hydrocarbon resources are an alternative to Russian resources in the region.
In his response, Elnur Mammadzade stated that there were close ties between Azerbaijan and Israel. The two countries cooperate in the military-technical field. We certainly import weapons from various countries. Taking into account that Israel is a state with high technologies in the field of defence industry, there is nothing wrong with the purchase of Israeli-made weapons by Azerbaijan. I would like to add once again that there is no foreign power in Azerbaijan. We do not need mercenaries coming from other countries. Our army is strong. With the enthusiasm of our people and army, we are determined to liberate our occupied lands from the enemy. For 30 years, Azerbaijani people have been impatiently waiting for the implementation of the resolutions of the international legislation. However, the international community has not been able to coerce Armenia and force the aggressor to leave Azerbaijan's land during these years. Azerbaijan, which regained its independence following the collapse of the Soviet Union, has become a strategically important country for the transportation of oil and gas supplies in a short period. We export hydrocarbon resources to Turkey and European countries via existing oil and gas pipelines. Armenia regularly threatens the oil and gas infrastructure of Azerbaijan and targets the civilian population of Azerbaijan on the contact line. Besides, two months ago Armenia targeted the civilian population and military facilities in the border region between the two countries. The purpose of these provocative actions of the aggressor country is to scare and threaten Azerbaijan, which will use the mentioned factors as a means of pressure against us. As I mentioned earlier, I want to emphasize once again that we have all the possibilities to protect our interests and our oil and gas infrastructure. Armenia should understand its responsibility for undermining stability and security in the region. The only reason for the tension in the region is Armenia, which is a threat to peace and security and has pursued its aggressive policy for 30 years. We call on the international community to press Armenia and force it to leave the occupied territories of Azerbaijan.
