One of the well-known media platforms of China 'Caixin media' has published an article dedicated to the Nagorno Karabakh conflict based on the interview with Azerbaijani ambassador to China Akram Zeynalli.
The article provides comprehensive information about the gross violation of the ceasefire by the Armenian armed forces on September 27, Armenian firing on the positions of the Azerbaijani Army, as well as the civilian settlements.
In their comments before the interview, the editors of "Caixin Media" noted that the reason for the conflict is the Nagorno-Karabakh region, which is known as the territory of Azerbaijan. Following the start of military operations, Armenian Prime Minister Pashinyan made a speech stating "Azerbaijan has declared war on the Armenian people" and ordered national mobilisation in the country. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said that soldiers and civilians were killed following the provocation of the Armenian armed forces and that the Azerbaijani Army strengthened its defence measures and carried out a counter-attack operation against the Armenian armed forces.
It was also noted that Azerbaijanis were expelled from Nagorno Karabakh with the territory of 4400 square kilometres. This territory is recognized as sovereign territory of Azerbaijan. As a result of uprisings in the 1990s, the unrecognised "Republic of Nagorno-Karabakh" was established in the region, where the local administration was under the control of Armenian separatists. In 1994, Armenia and Azerbaijan agreed on a ceasefire in the region through the mediation of international forces. However, small-scale conflicts in and around the Nagorno-Karabakh region have continued over the next 26 years. In July 2020, another bloody conflict took place between the armed forces of the two countries on the Azerbaijani-Armenian border. The conflict that started on September 27 differs from the previous ones in that mobilisation was announced in both countries.
Answering the journalists' questions, the ambassador also gave information about the historical Azerbaijani territories of Nagorno Karabakh, the mass resettlement of Armenians in those territories starting from the 19th century, Armenia's military aggression and its ethnic cleansing policy against Azerbaijan and Armenian provocations committed during the period of ceasefire. He also added that no country recognized the separatist regime in Nagorno Karabakh, including Armenia.
The Azerbaijani Army is powerful and there is no doubt that Azerbaijan will liberate its lands with its forces. Speaking about the news on the involvement of the Syrian mercenaries in fighting, the ambassador said that this type of news was spread by the official bodies of Armenia, including embassies. It mainly aims to extend the area of the war and involve the third party from the Armenian side. Unlike Armenia, there is not any army of forces belonging to another state in the area of Azerbaijan. On the contrary, there are undeniable facts about the Armenian use of mercenaries from Lebanon and Syria in the area of Nagorno Karabakh.
Speaking of the solution to the conflict via negotiations, the diplomat said that in compliance with the regulations of the international law and 4 statements of the UN Security Council, it must withdraw its armed forces and create fruitful conditions for negotiations. It is the main provision to continue the negotiations. All states supporting the implementation of the international law and complaining about the dual standards must show their positions clearly in such conflicts and urge them to peace. Furthermore, mediator countries must understand their responsibilities and try to settle the conflict within the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan based on norms and principles of international law.
