Employees of the Baku International Multiculturalism Centre continue their activities in conveying truths about the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
An employee of the Analytics Department Rahim Rahimov’s article titled "Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict: a clash of civilizations?" was published in the "Eurasia Daily Monitor" of the Jamestown Foundation, an influential think tank specializing in Russia and the post-Soviet space, located in Washington, USA.
The author of the article noted that Azerbaijan’s position is powerful in terms of the facts related to the history of the conflict and international law. In most cases, Armenia’s strategy is to turn the conflict into the emotional sphere. It was noted that those big countries and media agencies supported Armenia to conduct a large-scale disinformation campaign against Azerbaijan. The Azerbaijan-Turkiye alliance has an ethnic-cultural character. However, this alliance is based on real national interests. It is noted that the baseless claims of the officials and media agencies of those countries about the alleged shooting down of the Armenian aircraft by the Turkish F-16 and the involvement of fighters from Syria were spread without any fact-checking and confirmation. However, the Armenian president and other sources admitted the involvement of foreign fighters in the fighting from the Armenian side. However, nothing is said about it. The article also mentioned that President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev demanded an apology from French President Emmanuel Macron for saying that Syrian militants are being transferred to Azerbaijan to take part in the hostilities. It is also noted that the representation of the Christian world and the pro-Armenian position of all three co-chairman states of the OSCE Minsk Group are sometimes understood as "Christian solidarity" in Azerbaijan. A concrete example of this is Emmanuel Macron's recent statements that do not fit into any diplomatic etiquette or international law.
The author of the article also stressed that the conflict is not religious neither for Armenia nor for Azerbaijan.
