Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan - Head of the Foreign Policy Department of the Presidential Administration Hikmet Hajiyev’s interview was published in the reputable Spanish media “El Mundo” newspaper.
In the interview, the Presidential aide spoke about the current situation on the contact line and Armenia’s military aggression against Azerbaijan. It was noted that by grossly violating the demands of the humanitarian ceasefire agreement, Armenia shelled not only Ganja but also Mingachevir, where the largest Hydro Power Plant is located, as well as other civilian areas. 10 civilians lost their lives and 34 people were injured as a result of ballistic missile firing from the territory of Armenia on Ganja, which is far from the zone of military operations. The Armenian side has deployed "SCUD" missile complexes on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, as well as in the occupied Kalbajar region of Azerbaijan. Armenia has repeatedly fired at civilians and civilian objects with these rockets.
Answering the question about rumors about the alleged involvement of mercenaries in military operations by Azerbaijan, Hikmet Hajiyev said that it is another Armenian provocation against Azerbaijan. Today Azerbaijani Army, which has high fighting ability and modern weapons, does not need mercenaries. For many years, the Armenian side has been using Syrian and Lebanese Armenians as mercenaries against Azerbaijan and its armed forces.
Pointing out Nikol Pashinyan’s attempts to violate the negotiation process, the official highlighted the inadmissibility of forcefully changing the country’s borders, recognized at the international level. The significance of the restoration of Azerbaijani territories under four UN Security Council resolutions was also underlined.
