La Tribune portal has published an article entitled “Aliyev told France 24 that there are no mercenaries in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict”.
“Azerbaijan did not involve any mercenaries in fighting with Nagorno-Karabakh separatists. There is no military involvement of Turkey in the battles in Nagorno-Karabakh. No evidence was presented to us. Therefore, if there is no evidence, I think these rumors should also be left back in history,” President Ilham Aliyev told France 24.
“We have an army of more than 100 thousand fighters, and we don’t need mercenaries. And what we are doing now on the ground demonstrates that our army is capable of liberating its lands itself,” the head of state added.
The portal also reported that President Ilham Aliyev also responded to the allegations voiced by French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian: “Yes, he is wrong about that. Turkish military involvement is another fake news. There is no Turkish military involvement. We are using Turkish military equipment. This is true. But we are using the military equipment of Russia, the military equipment of Israel, military equipment of other countries.”
La Tribune portal stated that the fighting in Nagorno-Karabakh, which is the territory of Azerbaijan, erupted on September 27.
