Yagut Abdalla talked about the purposeful resettlement of Armenians to the Azerbaijani territories following ‘Gulustan’ and ‘Turkmenchay’ agreements, the policy of the Russian Empire to create a foothold here consisting of the Christian population, Armenia’s intention to occupy Azerbaijani territories and its occupation policy at the beginning and end of the 20th century.
Yardim Gunesh, who is originally from Igdir, said that his family has also been victim of the massacres committed by Armenians against Azerbaijanis, and a century ago, Armenian militants killed many unarmed civilians, including his grandfather. He said that he was a live witness of Armenia's military aggression against Azerbaijan in the 90s of the last century, noting that the silence of the international community about the atrocities committed against the civilian population in Azerbaijan angered him. Besides, he spoke about his activities to convey the right voice of Azerbaijan to the Austrian public within the framework of the organization.
Azerbaijan’s special correspondent in Austria Elgun Nifteli spoke about the provocation committed by Armenia on September 27 and the grounds of its attacks along the contact line. He highlighted the violation of the peace talks by the military-political leadership of Armenia and the fruitless activities of the OSCE Minsk Group. Starting from September 27, Armenia started provocations and attacks against Azerbaijan, killing 19 civilians in residential areas along the front lines of Azerbaijan and injuring many.
It was brought to the attention that the measures that Azerbaijan took to protect its sovereignty were within its internationally recognized borders and Azerbaijan’s Armed Forces resolutely moved forward in this direction. Azerbaijanis fully support President Ilham Aliyev’s position on the current situation. The President of Azerbaijan stated that there was only one answer to Armenia’s calls to negotiations: “They need to leave our territory, and then, the war will stop and then the conflict will come to an end”.
The participants of the programme also shared their views on the biased presentation of information about the war in the world media, the position of the regional powers, and the possible course of events.
