Doctor of History, Deputy Director of the Institute for Effective Politics (Moldova) Ruslan Shevchenko’s article titled ‘Azerbaijan started to restore its territorial integrity’ was published in the Moldovan media portal ‘Tribuna’.
In the article, Ruslan touched upon the history of the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno Karabakh conflict, emphasizing fruitless negotiations held within the framework of the Minsk Group. The politician highlighted that the international mediators of the Minsk Group kept the conflict ‘frozen’ instead of pressing Armenia. He also notes that despite the ceasefire regime agreed in 1994, many civilians have died and continue to die as a result of regular provocations by Armenia and the shelling of residential areas close to the frontline areas of Azerbaijan.
Shevchenko writes that Azerbaijan has become loyal to the negotiation process over the years. Azerbaijan hoped for the victory of justice and implementation of international law as a result of the negotiation process.
“The successful outcome of the war and the establishment of the legal authority of Azerbaijan in Karabakh will be a useful example to all countries fighting the virus of separatism, including Moldova. On the other hand, it will be a harsh but important lesson for all separatists, who seek to question the internationally recognized territorial integrity and sovereignty of states.
