Armenian society does not want to be hostage of Pashinyan’s government - expert (Trend)
“Armenians are seriously dissatisfied not only with the bitter defeat of the army, chaos, and arbitrariness in the country, but also with the deteriorating socio-economic situation. Currently, in Armenia there is an increase in prices for most products, including food, which aggravates the situation of ordinary people who are already in a difficult situation,” said Bahruz Guliyev, head of SƏS Media Group and political expert.
He noted that the confrontation and contradictions between the forces and clans in power in Armenia have escalated so much that complete chaos reigns in the country.
“In general, the aggravation of the situation in Armenia, where the socio-economic situation is difficult, lies not only in the above factors. Serious discontent is also observed among the mothers of soldiers. Protests are constantly held by the parents of soldiers who died in Nagorno-Karabakh. During rallies, slogans such as “Don’t destroy our children in vain”, and “Give us the corpses of our children” are changed against the Armenian leadership. Armenian families have been posting photographs of their sons on social networks for several days now, demanding that the missing soldiers be found. Although Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has repeatedly taken the initiative to unilaterally return the bodies of dead servicemen to the Armenian side, the Armenian leadership still refuses this. These facts already indicate serious problems within Armenia,” Guliyev said.
The expert stressed that both the previous government and Pashinyan’s current “gang” do not want a fair settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
“For almost 27 years now, Armenia has kept 20 percent of the territory of Azerbaijan under occupation. Today, Armenians understand that ending the occupation and the withdrawal of Armenian troops from the occupied Azerbaijani territories is the only guarantee of peace and security. Azerbaijan is much stronger economically and militarily than Armenia. Recent events have shown that even Russian military bases in Armenia do not guarantee the safety of Armenians. Despite the recruitment of foreign mercenaries and terrorists, Armenia was defeated by Azerbaijan in just 30 days. Today, the best and only option for the Armenian armed forces is to leave the occupied territories of Azerbaijan. The Armenian society does not want to remain hostage of the government of Nikol Pashinyan, and the most interesting thing is that their further development depends on compliance with the Constitution of Azerbaijan,” he added.
