Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Iran Bunyad Huseynov gave an interview to ILNA news agency.
The ambassador provided information about the ongoing counteroffensive operation of the Azerbaijani Army. He noted that a large number of tanks, missile systems, various equipment and command headquarters of Armenia, as well as the enemy’s S-300 anti-aircraft missile system deployed in Nagorno-Karabakh, were destroyed.
The diplomat pointed out that Azerbaijan itself is a victim of separatism. “Aggressive separatism is the main reason for the start of the Karabakh war. The government of Azerbaijan condemns separatism in all parts of the world. There are mutual contacts in all fields between the relevant institutions of Azerbaijan and Iran. Armenia is not satisfied with the friendly relations and cooperation between Azerbaijan and Iran, and is trying to create misunderstandings in the relations between our countries.”
Ambassador Huseynov noted that Armenia’s attempts to portray the joint Azerbaijani-Turkish military exercises as a threat to Iran are ridiculous. “Because Iran-Azerbaijan or Iran-Turkey relations are too high to be damaged by these rumors. Armenians make themselves ridiculous with such claims. For Azerbaijan, there is no difference between the northwestern central or southern provinces of Iran. Our country considers all provinces as a single Iran.”
The diplomat also rejected Armenia’s allegations of Azerbaijan’s recruitment of mercenaries from different countries as ‘groundless’.
