Akhbarona, a Moroccan newspaper, published an article, entitled ““Why did war break out between Azerbaijan and Armenia?”. The article, authored by an AZERTAC reporter, tells about the history and essence of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, and the reasons for the resumption of fierce hostilities on the contact line.
The article notes that as a result of the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Armenia occupied 20 percent of the lands of Azerbaijan, and more than a million Azerbaijani citizens became refugees and internally displaced persons.
It is brought to the attention of the Moroccan readers that the occupied lands were completely subjected to plunder and ethnic cleansing. Armenia destroyed all cultural monuments, including mosques, Islamic monuments and cemeteries. Mosques located in occupied lands are being destroyed and desecrated, and pigs and cows are kept in them, which shows a lack of respect for humanity and religion.
It should be noted that, unfortunately, the lack of persistence and pressure from international mediators on Armenia to implement four UN Security Council resolutions demanding the withdrawal of Armenian troops from the territories of Azerbaijan is one of the reasons for the continuation of the conflict.
The article also states that on September 27, 2020, Armenia again provoked Azerbaijan by firing mortars and large-caliber weapons at populated areas along the contact line in Karabakh. As a result, Azerbaijan, having launched a counter-offensive, began to liberate its lands.
“Currently, the war continues on Azerbaijani lands. The Azerbaijani soldier is fighting for his homeland and the return of the occupied lands. Azerbaijan is a peaceful country that does not go beyond its borders and at the same time does not give up an inch of its lands,” the article says.
