Ukrainian expert: Yesterday's events became significant not only for Azerbaijan (Report)
“Yesterday's events became significant not only for Azerbaijan. If the Azerbaijani Armed Forces manage to take control of large territories, then we can confidently speak of the first example of the return of occupied lands in the post-Soviet space and a definite signal for Kyiv and Tbilisi,” said Yaroslav Bozhko, a Ukrainian political scientist.
The expert noted that 30 years after the start of the conflict, Azerbaijan was able to return part of its lands and this is "an unequivocal example that de-occupation can be carried out even after a while."
“At the same time, I am waiting for a clearer position from official Kyiv on yesterday’s events in Nagorno-Karabakh. Less than a month ago, a new national security strategy was adopted, in which Azerbaijan is called a strategic partner of Ukraine. An adequate response to yesterday's events would be a statement in which Ukraine once again emphasizes its stable support for the idea of restoring the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan,” Bozhko added.
