Fierce fighting erupted in the eastern part of the Nagorno-Karabakh region, on the contact line between the Azerbaijani territories occupied by Armenia and Azerbaijan. According to the information provided by both sides, these fierce battles resulted in casualties, including casualties among the civilian population.
Journalist Neta Bar wrote about this in an article titled "A military conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan may lead to a large-scale war in the Caucasus" published in Israel's influential Hebrew-language newspaper Israel HaYom.
The article says: “The Defense Ministry of Azerbaijan reported that after the Azerbaijani Army launched rocket-artillery strikes on the peaceful population of Azerbaijan, the latter was forced to start large-scale military operations, involving tanks, infantry, artillery, and aviation. It should be noted that the Azerbaijani army has made statements many times. In these statements, military operations were announced, and footage taken by drones from the destroyed Armenian positions in the occupied territories of Azerbaijan was published.”
The author emphasized that Armenia has declared martial law and full mobilization of reservists and volunteers.
Journalist Neta Bar stated that according to the information disseminated by Azerbaijani media, the Azerbaijani Armed Forces liberates seven villages – Garakhanbeyi, Garvand, Yukhari Abdurrahmanli and Ashaghi Abdurrahmanli, Kand Horadiz villages of Fuzuli district, Boyuk Marjanli and Nuzgar villages of Jabrayil district.
“This operation is a brilliant achievement of Azerbaijan after the war of the 1990s. In those years, as a result of Armenian aggression, Azerbaijan lost control over Nagorno-Karabakh and seven surrounding regions, internationally known as Azerbaijani territories. As a result of Armenia’s aggression against Azerbaijan, more than a million Azerbaijani refugees left the region, which makes up 20 percent of the territory of present-day Armenia,” the article reads.
