Several US-based media websites published articles about Armenia’s next aggression against Azerbaijan, the Embassy of Azerbaijan in the US said.
The articles note that on September 27, Armenian armed forces, illegally stationed in the occupied Azerbaijani territories, intensively shelled the Azerbaijani Army’s positions, as well as the residential settlements of Azerbaijan.
As a result of the bombing of Azerbaijani villages, a number of civilians were killed and several others were injured. Residential settlements and civilian infrastructure were heavily damaged. So far, 19 civilians have been injured and hospitalized. All members of a family, including children, were killed as Armenian troops shelled Azerbaijan’s Naftalan district.
Speaking at the 75th session of the UN General Assembly on 24 September 2020, President Ilham Aliyev warned the international community that Armenia was preparing for a new war against Azerbaijan: “Armenia has recently adopted an aggressive and belligerent military doctrine and national security strategy… We call on the United Nations and the international community to deter Armenia from another military aggression. Responsibility for the provocations and the escalation of tensions lies squarely with the military-political leadership of Armenia.”
It is very important to understand that the fighting is being carried out in the international sovereign territories of Azerbaijan, occupied by Armenia, in violation of the relevant resolutions of the UN Security Council. As noted by President Ilham Aliyev, unlike Armenia, which attacked along the border in July, Azerbaijan has no military objectives on the territory of Armenia. Azerbaijan has always supported detailed and results-oriented negotiations for the sake of the prosperous future of the two countries.
The Embassy of Azerbaijan in the US calls on the world community to explain to Armenia that the illegal occupation of Azerbaijani territories cannot be continued and is unacceptable.
