Foreign Ministry spokesperson comments on Armenian Foreign Ministry’s statement on interview of Azerbaijani President to the BBC
In an interview with the BBC, the President of Azerbaijan reiterated Azerbaijan's position based on international law and the implementation of UN Security Council resolutions, stressing that Armenians in the Nagorno-Karabakh region of Azerbaijan are welcomed as citizens of Azerbaijan and that the war is not against the Armenian population here, but against the illegal junta regime. The Armenian Foreign Ministry’s distortion of the views expressed by the President quite clearly is another failed attempt to mislead the international community.
Armenia is directly responsible for the ethnic cleansing of the local Azerbaijani population during the occupation of the Azerbaijani territories, war crimes against civilians, as well as the acts of deliberate shelling of settlements and civilians far from the frontline as part of Armenia's new aggression.
Armenia's attempts to distract the international community with false comments and evade responsibility for the numerous war crimes committed against the Azerbaijani population are doomed to fail.
