Youth in Ukraine Hold Flashmob in Support of Azerbaijan
Young Ukrainian netizens have launched a flashmob under the hashtag #УкраїнаПідтримуєАзербайджан (Ukraine supports Azerbaijan) on Facebook. They are preparing short videos, expressing their support for Azerbaijan and justifying their stance.
The initiator behind the flashmob is a Ukrainian activist, Marina Goncharuk. In her video, she talks about the history of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and of its assessment in the context of international law. Goncharuk calls on the Ukrainian youth to be active in expressing their positions and supporting the people of Azerbaijan in their difficult, yet historically crucial period as they restore their territorial integrity.
Representatives of other nationalities living in Ukraine have also joined the flashmob. David Gogia, a representative of the Georgian youth of Ukraine says: ‘On behalf of the Ukrainian people and myself, I would like to express my support for the Azerbaijanis. The world should no longer allow violations of international law and of state borders through annexation, occupation and other military actions. I call on the parties to coexist peacefully within the clearly defined framework of international law. I respect the people of Azerbaijan for their efforts to protect their history, territories and future. Ukrainians, like Azerbaijanis and Georgians, have faced the violation of their borders and occupation of a portion of their territories. This is unacceptable in our modern world. Azerbaijan has always supported both Ukraine and Georgia in their struggle for their territorial integrity. Ukraine will, too, always support Azerbaijan. I wish peace to all of us.’
Ukrainian youth activists, poets and representatives of other groups have also joined the flashmob.
