Armenia’s treacherous attacks on civilians do not frighten Tartar residents (AZERTAC)
The Armenian armed forces, which are unable to withstand the Azerbaijani Army’s counteroffensive operations, continue to shell residential settlements along the frontline. As in other districts located on the frontline, in Tartar as a result of the shelling of residential areas, civilians were killed and injured, and houses and infrastructure were heavily damaged.
Ashur Muradov, 84, a resident of Tartar city, said he has never left his hometown despite enemy provocations.
“Both in the early 1990s and later - in April 2016, Tartar was subjected to repeated enemy attacks and artillery fire. But neither I nor my family members have ever left our city. Because we are in our own land, in our own city and we love our Motherland. Let the enemy know that their provocations are doomed to failure. Our powerful army will liberate all our lands from invaders,” Muradov said.
Then we visited some of the houses destroyed as a result of the heavy artillery fire by the Armenian armed forces. We talked with Zemfira Sultanova, a resident of Tartar, in front of her house, which was destroyed by the explosion of an enemy shell. She stated that they were fortunately not at home when the shell hit the house: “The shell fell 10 minutes after we left the house. We had just renovated the house. However, we are not disappointed because of the destruction of our house. Let's end the Armenian occupation.”
Another resident, Elkhan Ismayilov, said that he was on the street when the Armenians fired at the city: “Suddenly, a loud explosion was heard nearby. I saw that our house was destroyed.”
The residential complex built for internally displaced persons in Tartar district also came under artillery fire. While we were in the residential complex, we witnessed numerous shell explosions in the area. However, despite the sounds of explosions and destruction, optimism, the certainty of victory, and great confidence that our lands will be freed from occupation were felt in the faces of the internally displaced persons.
Munavvar Jamilova, an IDP from Kalbajar, expressed confidence that they will soon return to their native lands.
