Resident of Zangilan: I am Overjoyed to Spend the Rest of My Life Back at Home
‘I thank God for bestowing these days upon us. I cannot wait for the day we return to Zangilan. Allah Almighty heard our prayers and showed everyone that truth and justice are on our side.
I am endlessly grateful to the President of Azerbaijan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev and our brave soldiers fighting under his leadership. I say ‘thank you’ on behalf of the people displaced from their homes. I am extremely happy that I will get to spend the rest of my life back at home. May Allah protect our President and Army’, says Tutu Heydarova, 70-year-old resident of Zangilan.
Heydarova says she was joyous to hear the news of liberation of Zangilan and our other territories: ‘I feel like I have been reborn. Every corner of Azerbaijan is our Motherland, but one’s own home hits different. I will not know sorrow anymore even if I die, because Azerbaijan’s powerful leader and army have cleared my homeland of the enemies. I have 6 daughters and a son. We used to be farmers before being displaced from Zangilan. We live well here too, but your native village feels different.’
The resident of Zangilan could not hold her tears as she remembered the years of being displaced from her home: ‘Many years might have passed, but I will never forget what they did to us. It no longer felt safe as the events started. We lived in panic ever single day. The volleys they fired at us set houses on fire before our eyes. But the people of Zangilan fought until their last breath.’
Tutu Heydarova is confident that all our lands will soon be recovered from occupation. She prays for our soldiers every day at her namaz.
