Prosecutor General Kamran Aliyev meets with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Republic of Uzbekistan to Azerbaijan Bahrom Ashrafkhanov
On October 27, Prosecutor General Kamran Aliyev met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Azerbaijan Bahrom Ashrafkhanov.
Warmly welcoming the guest, the Prosecutor General touched upon the traditional friendship and partnership relations between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan, the existence of business relations in all fields, underlined the successful development of relations, the importance of mutual visits and meetings of the presidents in the expansion of cooperation between the two countries.
The Prosecutor General informed that as a result of the heavy artillery and missile attacks on the residential areas of Azerbaijan, Armenian armed forces starting from September 27, committed crimes against peace and humanity targeting peaceful civilian population. He stated that Armenians made missile attacks on Ganja, the second largest city of Azerbaijan, on October 4, 11 and 17, killing 65 civilians, including 18 women and 10 children, injuring 308, including 71 women, 33 children, and inflicted damage on 2312 residential houses, 90 multi-storey buildings and 405 civil infrastructure objects.
Bahrom Ashrafkhanov stated that the official position of his country regarding the conflict has remained unchanged for 27 years, noting that Uzbekistan recognizes the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and that the Nagorno-Karabakh territory is an integral part of our country. He emphasized the importance of the solution to the conflict within the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan based on the basic principles as provided for in the relevant resolutions of the UN Security Council.
The Ambassador stated that his country condemned the missile fire on the civilian settlements of Azerbaijan by the armed forces of Armenia, that he was familiar with the consequences of the crimes committed in the city of Ganja. He emphasized that the briefings held by the Prosecutor General's Office, the information provided and other measures taken in order to introduce these events to the world community are of particular importance.
Later, the sides exchanged views on cooperation, legal assistance in criminal cases, extradition and other issues between the prosecutor's offices of both states.
