Azerbaijan support action held in Istanbul
‘We are with you, Azerbaijan; We are with you, Karabakh!’ rally in support of Azerbaijan was held on 28 September, in front of our Consulate General in Istanbul. The event was organized by the Turkey-Azerbaijan Society in Istanbul (ISTAD). The ISTAD Chairman Safar Garagoyunlu read a statement for the media at the action.
‘The entire Turkish nation is excited to hear of the liberation of our lands, which had been unjustly occupied for twenty-eight years. May our brothers who sacrificed their lives for the recovery of our homeland lay in peace; may our wounded recover speedily. We strongly condemn Armenia, which has been causing instability in the region for 28 years, brutally killing thousands of innocent people by committing acts of genocide, including in Khojaly, which has occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijani lands, disregarding international law. Stuck in the region with economic and political problems, Armenia thus imagined finding a way out by attacking Azerbaijan. There are internationally recognized legal documents, showcasing that Karabakh lands belong to Azerbaijan. Without any regard for these acts, Armenia continues to operate lawlessly in the occupied Azerbaijani lands. Azerbaijan, in response, has taken action to recover the occupied territories through our lawful right of defence. We fully support this initiative by Azerbaijan. Armenia, which relies heavily on certain powers, must unconditionally leave the occupied Azerbaijani territories to restore peace in the region. The 83 million Turkish people and 300 million Turks will remain by their brothers in Azerbaijan’s righteous struggle until the very end.
The patience of the Turkic people has waned. ‘Enough is enough!’, we say.’
The head of the society then shared the latest good news from the Azerbaijani Army with the participants of the event.
They waved the Azerbaijani and Turkish flags and chanted slogans in support of our army and country.
The event was attended by public and cultural figures from both countries, our compatriots living in Turkey, and representatives of numerous institutions and media.
