Armenia fires missiles at Azerbaijan's Khizi and Absheron regions
On October 4, Armenian armed forces, in violation of the norms and principles of international law, the Geneva Convention of 1949 and its Additional Protocols, and the UN Security Council resolutions, shelled Azerbaijan's Khizi and Absheron regions, by firing two long-range ballistic missiles targeting non-military, clearly visible and distinguishable objects.
The prosecutor's office launched criminal proceedings under the Articles 100.2 (conduct of aggressive war), 29, 120.2.1 (attempted murder by a criminal organization), 29, 120.2.4 (premeditated murder committed with special cruelty or in a generally dangerous way), 29, 120.2.12 (intentional killing with intent to cause national, racial, religious hatred or enmity), 186.3 (intentional destruction or damage to property, especially with extensive damage) and 279.3 (establishment of armed associations not provided by law) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The prosecutor's office is taking investigative measures to clarify the list of victims and damaged civil infrastructure facilities.
The Prosecutor General's Office states that the criminal military-political leadership of Armenia and the so-called regime in the occupied Karabakh region directly bears responsibility for the crimes against civilians by firing heavy artillery at civilian areas and settlements far away from the combat zone under the guise of hitting military targets by Armenian armed forces.
