Tailor From Lankaran Saws Flags for the Frontline (Azertac)
A tailor from Lankaran saws our national flags and sends them to the frontline for a morale boost, which has quickly become the story of the day on social media since yesterday.
The Azerbaijani soldiers launched a retaliative offense to the September 27 provocations of the enemy and have been penning one victory after another, boosting overall morale among people, who, in turn, go above and beyond to campaign in support of the army across the country. Everyone in the rear wants to contribute to the common cause under the motto ‘Everything for the Motherland’. Our hero, tailor Mehman Bayramov from Kargalan village in Lankaran, is also one of such patriots. The 56-year-old craftsman has worked as a tailor in the village he was born in for 35 years. He has been making national flags, distributing them among the locals for free, and sending them to the frontline.
‘I started making flags when I had orders from executive and state institutions, and municipalities. These usually came in before elections. While I used to charge for my services at the time, the situation is different now. It is the liberation of our lands we are talking about. How could I ever charge for flags in this case? Our people are zealous and brave. I have set this up upon my own initiative and send the flags I make to the frontline’, the patriotic tailor explained.
The tailor, who has sent over 50 flags to the frontline so far, feels proud of his work. The youth who deliver aid to the soldiers turn to him to order flags, which he does not charge for. Bayramov says no money in the world can measure up to the value of a flag. His only son has also volunteered for the front and is now serving his Motherland. The tailor is confident that the flags he makes will soon undulate in Karabakh.
‘Our army pens a new victory every day and is making history as we speak. I am happy that my son is also serving. He has volunteered to fight the enemy. I will cut a sacrificial animal under the feet of my son and all our soldiers, as they plant the Azerbaijani flag in Shusha. I will distribute my flags among people there as well.’
