Goranboy’s Shahmammadli village under Armenian artillery fire (Azertac)
Armenian armed forces, unable to withstand the Azerbaijani Army, continue shelling the civilian population and residential settlements of Azerbaijan. As a result, houses, civilian facilities, civilian properties, and infrastructure were heavily damaged.
In the morning of October 8, Armenian troops again fired artillery at Goranboy district, inflicting damage to private houses and civilian facilities.
Local resident Afiyaddin Guliyev said that Armenian troops shelled the district in the morning. “The sound of an explosion was heard. When we went outside, we saw that a shell fired by Armenians fell into the yard of my uncle’s house. We came and saw that my uncle’s fire, Turyan Guliyeva, died from a shrapnel wound, and the house was severely damaged,” he said.
The local resident noted that despite the enemy shelling, villagers are not afraid of this. “Everyone is doing their job, they have not gone anywhere. We trust our army. Our army gives an adequate response to the enemy and ensures our security,” Guliyev added.
The missile fired by Armenian troops left several houses in the neighborhood damaged. Local resident Alim Allahverdiyev said his son’s house was damaged as a result of the enemy shelling.
“Shrapnel from the missile fired by the enemy damaged the room where my daughter-in-law and three young children were sleeping. Fortunately, nothing happened to my grandchildren during the incident. We are not afraid of the enemy. We know from 1991-1992 that they target civilians. They want to teigger panic among the population. But no worries. The Azerbaijani Army is strong and delivers crushing blows to the enemy. We trust our army. We always stand by our army. Armenians are cowards. Victory is with us,” Allahverdiyev added.
Khagani Guliyev, a resident of Shahmammadli village, said that despite Armenia’s continued shelling, they are not going to leave the village. “We are not afraid of anything. If we were afraid, so many people would not be here. We trust our army and our President. Hopefully, our army will achieve a victory soon.”
One of those whose house was damaged by the enemy's artillery attack is Etibar Eyvazov, a Karabakh veteran from a martyr’s family. He said that the Armenians started shelling the district in the morning.
"One of the rockets landed in our yard and damaged the house. We were at home at the time of the attack. Children were also sleeping. Fortunately, no one was injured. I myself am a Karabakh veteran, a martyr's family. I know that Armenians start targeting civilians as soon as they are in trouble. Their purpose is to target and intimidate residents. But they cannot scare us. Everyone is in their home,” Eyvazov added.
