Akhundov Criticizes Armenia’s Stance Ahead of Foreign Minister Consultations
Commenting on the upcoming consultations between the foreign ministers of Azerbaijan and Armenia, initiated by U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, sector director Fuad Akhundov stated that Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s remarks highlight Yerevan’s lack of interest in a peaceful resolution.
“Pashinyan’s statement regarding the absence of diplomatic solutions demonstrates that Armenia is not committed to resolving the issue peacefully. Making such statements while consultations are ongoing in Moscow and planned in the U.S. further complicates the situation,” he said.
Akhundov also addressed claims that Syrian fighters are allegedly supporting Azerbaijan, describing these reports as false. He added that in Karabakh, Azerbaijan’s modern 21st-century army is confronting Armenia’s outdated 20th-century military.
