Azerbaijan Calls for Support as It Fights to Restore Sovereignty in Nagorno-Karabakh

Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Lithuania, Tamerlan Garayev, has urged international support for his country’s efforts to reclaim occupied territories, highlighting Armenia’s ongoing provocations and violations of international law.

In an interview with Lithuania’s Alkas portal, Garayev detailed Armenia’s ethnic cleansing policies, attacks on civilians, infrastructure, and cultural sites, and the failure to comply with four UN Security Council resolutions calling for the withdrawal of Armenian forces from Nagorno-Karabakh and surrounding areas. He stressed that peace negotiations under the OSCE Minsk Group have been fruitless.

The ambassador emphasized that Azerbaijan’s counter-offensive operations are defensive, aimed at restoring sovereignty and protecting citizens. He noted repeated Armenian ceasefire violations, including missile strikes on cities such as Ganja and Mingachevir, which resulted in over 60 civilian deaths and hundreds of injuries.

Garayev concluded by calling on Lithuania and the international community to support Azerbaijan’s just struggle to restore territorial integrity and ensure lasting peace in the region.

Azərbaycan Ordusunun sentyabrın 27-də işğalçı Ermənistan silahlı qüvvələrinə qarşı başladığı əks-hücum əməliyyatında əldə etdiyi möhtəşəm qələbələr haqqında bundan sonra kitablar yazılacaq, filmlər çəkiləcək. Amma indidən tam əminliklə deyə bilərik ki, cəbhə uğurlarımızın ən başlıca səbəbi Prezident, Ali Baş Komandan İlham Əliyevin həyata keçirdiyi güclü dövlət, güclü ordu strategiyası, milli birlik və döyüşçülərimizin ruh yüksəkliyi idi.
