Too Early to Discuss Azerbaijan-Armenia Leaders' Meeting, Says Azerbaijani Ambassador
It is too early to talk about a potential meeting between the leaders of Azerbaijan and Armenia, as the Armenian side continues to take a destructive approach, said Polad Bulbuloglu, the Azerbaijani Ambassador to Russia.
In an interview with TASS, the ambassador commented on the outcomes of Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov’s recent visit to Moscow. Bulbuloglu noted that, as President Ilham Aliyev has stated, no invitation for such a meeting has been extended.
“I believe the situation is not yet ready,” Bayramov said when asked whether a leaders’ meeting was discussed during his visit. He emphasized that Armenia’s continued unconstructive stance makes such discussions premature.
He added that if such an initiative were proposed, it would be carefully considered and the public would be informed accordingly.
The ambassador reaffirmed that Azerbaijan will firmly defend its position on the Karabakh issue, grounded in international law.
