“Military operations are conducted in the internationally recognized territories of Azerbaijan, and according to the resolutions of the UN Security Council, these territories are not disputed but occupied territories,” Farid Shafiyev, Chairman of the Board of the Center of Analysis of International Relations (AIR Center) said in his interview with the well-known European TV “Deutsche Welle”.
Shafiyev also talked about the Armenian rocket attacks on Azerbaijan’s Ganja city on October 17 and the use of ‘Scud’ missiles during the attacks: “The city of Ganja is located 100 km away from the front line. Scud missiles were used by Saddam Hussein during the Iraq war for the last time. Unfortunately, Armenia attacked at night to cause more casualties among civilians. We agreed on a humanitarian ceasefire in Moscow on October 10. However, unfortunately, on the morning of the agreement, Armenia attacked Ganja for the first time. Of course, we want to move from the military stage to the negotiating table, but we do not see any positive steps in this regard from the Armenian side. For this to happen, Armenia must understand that it must stop military operations on our territories.”
