The Azerbaijani Embassy to Spain prepared a communique regarding the Armenian missile attack on Azerbaijan’s Ganja city on October 17 and sent it to various media outlets.
“On October 17, 2020, at around 01:00 am, Armenia launched a missile attack on Azerbaijan’s Ganja city. Following the recent Armenian aggression against Azerbaijan, the third missile attack on Azerbaijan’s second-largest city Ganja caused civilian losses. As a result, 12 civilians, including 2 minors were killed and more than 40 were injured.
With a blatant violation of norms and principles of international law, purposefully killing civilians is a war crime and a crime against humanity. The Armenian leadership bears full responsibility for these crimes.
Continuing Armenian aggression and attacks against civilians must be stopped. The international community must not turn a blind eye to Armenia’s inhumane actions against the Azerbaijani people.
The Azerbaijani side strongly condemns these heinous attacks by Armenia targeting its civilian population and demands to end these war crimes.
Turning terrorism into a state policy, the political-military leadership of Armenia bears full responsibility for targeting civilians. Azerbaijan announces that criminals will be brought to justice by using national and international legal mechanisms.”
